About this Programme

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BA LLB) Honours is a professional law degree that candidates can pursue right after Class 12th. An integrated course, BA LLB (Hons) is of five years duration law programme. In a BA LLB (Hons) course candidates are taught Arts as well as Law subjects. As part of the BA LLB (Hons) course, candidates have imparted education not only through classroom teaching methods but also by means of case studies and moot courts. The Bar Council of India closely regulates the law degrees in India, and it has approved this course in full-time mode only because it’s curriculum includes practical training, apart from theory classes.

Scope

After graduation, there is a huge demand for graduates in the legal field. They can be employed in various state and central government agencies or they can work for a private law firm. They can also practice as a lawyer independently. Average earnings of BA LLB fresh graduates ranges from INR 3 to 6 LPA. But it may be higher depending upon your placement, internships and your performance. After completion of BA LLB course, you can go for further qualification in the law field. Master of Legislative Law (LLM) offered by University of Mumbai, University of Delhi, NLSIU Bangalore and NALSAR Hyderabad can be pursued by law graduates who wish to study further. There is an option of M. Phil in Law. There are many relevant professional certificate and diploma courses as well like Diploma in Cyber Law, Diploma in Labour Laws, PG Diploma in Corporate Laws, etc.

B.B.A. L.L.B. (Hons) or Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Legislative Law Honours is an undergraduate Administrative Law professional integrated course. The course is a combination of the study of Law and Business administration. B.B.A. L.L.B. (Hons.) provides an integrated understanding of the interrelationship of Management Studies and Law in their entirety than in specified areas. Law, it is a set of categorized rules and regulations under which any society or country is governed. By Honours, it is meant that it is a Higher Academic Standard Course because it requires in-depth study subjects studied. It is ranked above the Simple, Pass, General or Ordinary Bachelors Course. B.B.A.  L.L.B. (Hons.) is five years course with 10 Semesters. The maximum duration to clear the course is a period of 8 (eight) years from the date of admission to the First Semester Course. It is called an Integrated Course because its course curriculum involves the study of Commerce and business administration etc. along with the in-depth study of law and legislature. The medium of instruction is mostly English unless specified.

Scope

The course provides employment opportunities in both the Law Sector and the Business Sector. The course broadens one’s area of expertise and one can work as a Specialist in one field and Part-timer in another. B.Com. LL.B. (Hons) or Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Legislative Law Honours is an undergraduate professional integrated course which is a combination of the study of Law and Commerce. B.Com. stands for Bachelor of Commerce, while LLB stands for Bachelor of Law. By Honours, it is meant that it is a Higher Academic Standard Course requiring in-depth study the subject matter studied. It is ranked above the Simple, Pass, General or Ordinary Bachelors Course. B.Com. LL.B. with Honours is a 5 Years Course with 10 Semesters. The difference between Regular B.Com. LL.B. and one with Honours is the number of subjects which one need to study; Honour requires study of additional subjects. The maximum duration to clear the course is a period of 8 (eight) years from the date of admission to the First Semester Course. It is called an Integrated Course because its course curriculum involves the study of Commerce along with the in-depth study of law and legislature. The medium of instruction is English unless specified. The legal education apex body in India is the Bar Council of India. This Bar Council monitors and regulates the system of legal education in India. All fresh law graduates or those who have already cleared their law graduation but have not yet enrolled with the bar council must clear a bar examination (All India Bar Examination) to be entitled to practice before courts or tribunals in India. The process of enrolment confers a license to the holder to practise before any court in India and give legal advice. The entire procedure of enrolment and post-enrollment professional conduct is regulated and supervised by the Bar Council of India.

Lawyers present cases in the court of law and take part in all proceedings and hearings. Legal Advisor: Candidates opting to work in such a job profile are also lawyers who specialise in a specific field of law. Legal advisors are usually hired by governments as well as large organisations/ companies. The main task of a legal advisor is to protect their clients from any legal implication or consequence. Advocate: In such a job profile one needs to do a lot of research work to gather factual data as well as physical evidence to support their claim. Apart from this, other responsibilities allocated to advocates include scrutinising and drafting contracts. Solicitor: In such a job profile an individual usually specialises in a specific area of law like tax, litigation, family or property. Solicitors offer legal advice to private as well as commercial clients. Teacher or Lecturer: After completing an LLB degree candidates can also teach law at the college or university level.

The fee payable by the candidate/research scholar enrolled for the Ph.D. program shall be as under:

  • An extension fee of 15,000 per year will be charged after the completion of third year of registration
  • Late Fee of 2,000/- will be charged if the candidate exceeds the deadline by 15 days and 1,000/- per 15 days or part thereof for any further delay.
  • The above extension fee will not be applicable to women who fall under the purview of Clause 11.3 of the Ph.D. Ordinance of the University.
