Well, have we crosschecked on what might have gone wrong?
Here’s a hint, it’s not the grades, instead it’s the personality traits. Companies seeking talent don’t just swipe left on an individual because of low domain scores or grades instead they reject individuals majorly due to the lack of basic aptitudes, life skills, soft skills and Social skills.
As per the research by one of the world’s top University, 88% of a candidate’s selection is based on Soft skills and only 12% weighs on domain knowledge in an interview at hotshot corporates and other dream companies.
Hence, realising the importance of these skills, Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) introduced new training department which will develop essential basic aptitude skillset in students and faculty members, thus forming Centre for Teaching Learning and Development (CTLD).
CTLD focuses on developing quantitative ability, reasoning ability, verbal ability and developing the personality of the students by encouraging and nurturing their soft skills, so as to be productive to meet the demands of the employers and clearing the placement interview which will pave the way to their dream company. These training programmes also upgrade the students' social and professional skills which are required for their future workspace.
What is the importance of Soft skills & Quantitative aptitude?
CTLD enhances and improves one's Soft skills & qualitative aptitude that is needed for developing one's personality in a work environment.
Soft skill training induces professionalism and is taught in semester/yearly course pattern. The training helps students to develop interpersonal skills, enhance communication skills, encourage problem-solving attitude and teamwork while nourishing leadership qualities too.
Quantitative Aptitude is an essential requirement nowadays for campus recruitments as well as other competitive exams like CAT, XAT, MAT, NMAT, GMAT etc and UPSC/SSC exams. CTLD prepares students at the college itself to enhance their aptitude to face any of the above examinations.
The final semester students are prepared through special training for specific recruiters who conduct recruitment on Campus as well as off-campus. The special type of training includes company-specific training for national & multinational companies like Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, Wipro, Accenture, L&T InfoTech, HCL, TCS, IBM etc which are also amongst the prominent recruiters at the University placement drive.
Teerthanker Mahaveer University is providing yeoman service to its beloved students by establishing the Centre for Teaching Learning and Development (CTLD). This was really the need of the hour, as the future of any education institution will depend a lot on transforming students who are capable of creativity and innovation for the organisation they work for. Creativity and Innovations are possible when the employees work in teams where members are confident, highly motivated, dedicated, determined while being emotionally & socially intelligent. At CTLD these are the qualities we develop in students.
As the university not just comprises of students the CTLD department is also responsible for the development of the staff & faculty members through continuous Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) and staff development programmes (SDP).
TMU’s CTLD has recruited sufficient master trainers to cater to the training need of university’s more than 1300 employees and more than 14000 students.
Some of the trainers are specialised in soft, social, emotional skillswhile others are specialised in quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability and verbal ability along with having a good amount of experience in their field of specialisation.
Dear students, I wholeheartedly welcome all of you to join this world-class University. I assure that we will go all out to prepare you as a future world-class Leaders, Technocrats, Engineers and the finest human being.
