B.F.A stands for Bachelor of Fine Arts. Bachelor of Fine Arts is an Undergraduate Academic course in the field of Fine Arts. Fine Arts in terms of academics, is the study and creation of visual works of art. Visual works of Arts can be in the form of painting, sculpture, dance, theatre, architecture, photography etc. BFA is an integrative course having duration of 4 years. Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree Course in it's initial year includes drawing, painting, figure drawing, portraiture, watercolour, art-making concept development, art history critique etc. Candidates who have a natural interest for Visual Arts or natural skills such as sketching, drawing and visualization are perfectly suited for pursuing this degree. Successful graduates of BA in Fine Arts are employed in a variety of fields such as art studios, advertising companies and publishing houses. Other associated fields are product design, manufacturers, online services, publishing houses, software companies and magazines, where art graduates can work in positions such as Art Critic or Art Specialist. Artists and craftsmen also work as freelancers and sell their creations or display them in exhibitions. Although steady income is an issue for freelancers, people with outstanding talent can manage to receive equally outstanding payment for their exquisite work. Within the field of fine arts field, success and job prospects depend on an individual's experience, creativity, market awareness, and talent. Some research scholars also step into the line of entrepreneurship and build their own businesses.

About this Programme

MFA in Fine Arts is a 2- year postgraduate degree program in the study of visual and performing arts. This course is offered to students in the form of many streams also like Graphics, Sculpture, Painting, Applied Arts, etc. The course duration is 2 years and it teaches fine arts concepts and not the practical approach. The basic eligibility for pursuing this course is that the student should have a bachelor’s degree in fine arts.

Scope

Those who complete this course can work with museums, art galleries, dance academies, music studios, gaming industry, TV channels, and many other academic institutions. They can work in capacities of Curator, Graphic Designer, Animator, Art Designer, Lecturer, etc. The average starting salary ranges from INR 4.5-6 Lakhs per annum. This is a postgraduate-level degree in arts, with particular concentrations in the field such as filmmaking, creative writing, photography, performing arts and visual arts. Some focuses are separated significantly further. Such as, creative writing candidates can focus on poetry, fiction, or nonfiction, and visual artists can work particularly in painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture. Candidates practice their methods and gain academic skills in art movements, theory, and history.
