The Department of Social Work has been established to promote and impart
education, research, field action and dissemination on wide spectrum of social
issues and problems confronting the individuals, families, groups and
communities. The Department believes in ethical social work practices and is a
strong advocate for social justice. The objective of the two year MSW program is
to prepare a cadre of trained and qualified professionals who have deep
understanding of human problems and sufferings. The curriculum is appropriately
designed by involving experts from academia, government, NGO(s) and
international organizations to develop knowledge, attitude, skills and values
necessary to comprehend contemporary socio-economic realities and developmental
issues so as to address them effectively.
The innovative MSW program combines class room teaching and supervised field
instructions through partnerships with leading social service, health care and
community agencies. The doctoral program intends to prepare experienced social
workers for leadership roles as scholars, educators, researchers and service
providers. The faculty at the Department have extensive teaching experience, are
social work scholars and leading professionals in their respective fields.
