Hospital like any other organization, need good managers for efficient and
effective delivery of health care services. Healthcare managers plan, direct,
coordinate and supervise the delivery of health care services. In the changing
environment in which this sector is operating managers must be prepared to deal
with the integration of health care delivery systems, technological innovations,
complex regulatory environment, restructuring of work, and focus on preventive
care. They are required to improve efficiency in healthcare facilities and the
quality of the care provided.
The program is interdisciplinary in nature and combines the understanding of
areas such as management, economics, law, human resource development,
information technology, understanding of the working of hospitals and health
care facilities, nutrition, prevention of communicable diseases, community
health and other medical services. The cutting edge curriculum has been designed
to develop core competencies and provide exposure with the best practices of the
profession. The students of the program get the unique opportunity of
interacting with the faculty, doctors and students of medical, dental, pharmacy,
nursing and management colleges for sharpening their technical and managerial
skills. The attachment of the students to the 550 bed multi-speciality hospital
of the University helps them in learning the dynamics of administering the
hospital and also has an hands-on experience of the different functions/aspects
of the hospital.
