5.6.4 & 5.6.5: Childcare Facilities for Students, Staff, and Faculty
Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, demonstrates its strong commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 5 through the implementation of a comprehensive Maternity Benefit and Supportive Provisions Policy under its Service Rule Framework. This policy ensures that women employees experience institutional care, dignity, and equality during maternity, enabling them to sustain career progression without discrimination or bias.
To facilitate the smooth transition of women returning to work, TMU has established an on-campus Day Care Centre offering safe, nurturing childcare facilities. The University also extends paternity leave provisions, reinforcing shared parenting and gender balance in family responsibilities. Further, TMU organizes maternal health awareness programs, prenatal and postnatal care workshops, and counselling sessions through the Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre.
TMU’s HR Department systematically tracks maternity leave availed and post-maternity retention data of women employees, ensuring continuous policy evaluation. This evidence-based monitoring contributes to transparent governance and ongoing improvement.
