5.3.1: Tracking Access Measures

Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) through measurable frameworks that ensure equitable access, participation, and empowerment for all genders. Under Key Indicator 5.3.1 – Tracking Access Measures, TMU has developed a systematic and robust environment across its academic, administrative, and community initiatives.

TMU’s Women Empowerment Policy and the active Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) are central to these efforts. These bodies continuously check on female enrolment, retention, scholarships, research participation, and leadership representation.

In line with its inclusive ethos, TMU provides need-based and merit-based scholarships, mentorship programs, and entrepreneurial and leadership training tailored for women. Continuous gender-sensitization workshops, health and safety campaigns, and legal-awareness sessions reinforce gender equity at every level. TMU’s infrastructure, secure hostels, hygienic sanitation, transportation facilities, and gender-neutral grievance redressal systems fosters a safe and enabling environment for all learners.

Quantitative improvements reflect the impact of these measures: in the last five years, TMU has recorded a steady increase in female enrolment and women’s participation in research and innovation projects. Moreover, women faculty members now hold key administrative and leadership roles across departments, ensuring that gender inclusivity is institutionally embedded.
