Vocabbadicts 3.0 (Addiction to Vocabulary Development)

Teerthanker Mahaveer University's Centre for Teaching, Learning and Development (CTLD) for the third time hosted a month-long event with a purpose of vocabulary enhancement of students titled Vocabbadicts 3.0, leading to development of Communication skills.


On the occasion of semi-finals and grand finale, Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghuvir Singh, Registrar Dr. Aditya Sharma, Dean Law College Dr. Harbansh Dixit along with Principals and Directors of various colleges and faculty members graced this occasion on April 7, 2023 at 10 AM, in the TMU Auditorium. The event was witnessed by more than 500 students from various Colleges of University. Honourable Vice Chancellor and Registrar, congratulated the Director CTLD Prof. R. N. Krishnia, and team of trainers, for their efforts to make this mega event a success. They also appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm of students.


The theme Vocabbadicts indicates that our students are addicted to developing their vocabulary to the level, which can make them fluent in English communication. For this, trainers of CTLD researched the English literature and compiled a booklet of 25 pages containing 1000 words of different types. It is pertinent to mention that words weren't the commonly used words but quite complex. Students of all the colleges of University were encouraged to register and take part in this mega event by CTLD trainers and student Volunteers. A total of 320 teams (960 students) registered.


Conduction of Event:
First round was screening round, held on 28 March 2023 in which 320 registered teams of various colleges participated. This round was held in smart classrooms and Lecture theatres of College of Management, Education, Nursing, Engineering and Computer Sciences as tests appeared on screen in PPT format. 44 teams qualified for quarterfinals.


A quarterfinal was conducted on 01 April 2023 in which all the 44 teams participated. This round was held in the Lecture theatre as 132 students participated. The test was displayed on the screen in which a timer was set for each question and therefore, after starting, there was no human interruption until the end of the last question. Top 12 teams were selected for the semi-final


Semifinal and final rounds were held on 07 April 2023 in University Auditorium in the presence of University dignitaries. The scene was worth watching as the audience applauded teams after every question. Questions, which were not answered by teams, were passed to the audience. Finally, 06 teams were selected for the grand finale by automatic digital scoring system.


Grand finale was held through 05 rounds including the buzzer round and rapid fire round. The scene of this round was so professional that it was looking better than Kaun Banega Crorepati and the impression of quiz master Mr. Vipin Chauhan was better than Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.


Team Clashers from College of Pharmacy received first prize, Team Vanguard and Team GenZ from College of Education received second and third place respectively. The teams were all awarded with trophies and certificates, not only this the winner received Amazon Echo Dot, 2nd runner up received headphones and the 3rd runner up received smart watch.


Director CTLD Prof. R. N. Krishnia praised the team of trainers who have put in their hard work for the event, he congratulated the students and claimed together we have proved that by working in a team, we can achieve miracles.


Deputy Director CTLD Mr. Dilip Dutt Varshney was overall coordinator of the event in which all trainers Jasmine Stephen, Atul Dayal, Alka Dayal, Vipin Chauhan, Sagar Pratap Singh, Charvee Khatri, Amod Solanki, Ankit Sharma, Anant Bhardwaj, Deepak Katiyar, Pradeep Panwar and Chandrabhushan Sinha contributed immensely. 20 student volunteers of different colleges were awarded appreciation certificates along with the two hosts of the event Miss Aastha Jain and Miss Vanshika Dixit who enthusiastically took care of the Mic and audience.
