TMU Organised Cybercrime Awareness Programme on Investigation and Prevention
Teerthanker Mahaveer University recently organised an awareness programme on “Cybercrime Investigation and Prevention: A Forensic Perspective” at the College of Paramedical Sciences. The programme aimed to educate students about the rising threat of cybercrime, its investigation process, and important preventive measures to stay safe in the digital world. The programme witnessed active participation from students of the College of Paramedical Sciences, College of Law and Legal Studies, and Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College and Research Centre.
The event began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana. After welcoming the guests, the session moved forward with discussions on the increasing cases of cyber fraud and online scams. The speakers highlighted how digital crimes had become a serious concern due to the growing use of technology in everyday life.
Experts Shared Important Cyber Safety Tips
Prof. (Dr.) Navneet Kumar addressed the students and explained that cybercrime cases had been increasing rapidly with the expansion of digital platforms. He stressed that people must remain alert while using online services, social media, and digital payment systems. He also advised students to use technology responsibly and carefully.
Dr Harbansh Dixit, Dean of the College of Law and Legal Studies, spoke about the social and legal impact of cybercrime. He said that awareness and proper knowledge were essential to building a safer society. According to him, educating young people about cyber threats could help reduce online fraud and misuse of technology.
The main speaker of the Cybercrime Awareness Programme was Mr Shivam Tayal, Sub-Inspector and Cyber Expert from Cyber Police Station, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh Police. He explained several common cybercrime methods, including social engineering scams, credit card fraud, ATM hacking, database hacking, and digital arrest fraud. He advised students not to trust unknown calls, suspicious messages, or unverified links. He also stated that awareness remained the strongest protection against cybercrime.
Another cyber expert, Mr Prashant Singh, discussed cyber fraud related to online banking and digital payments. He encouraged participants to stay careful during online transactions and immediately report any suspicious activity to the concerned authorities.
Students Learned About Digital Security Measures
During the programme, experts also explained the importance of creating strong passwords, changing passwords regularly, and using two-factor authentication for online accounts. They also discussed the importance of maintaining a safe digital footprint and protecting personal information from hackers.
As a mark of appreciation, tokens of appreciation were presented to distinguished faculty members and organisers, including Dr Pramod Dode, Prof. (Dr.) Navneet Kumar, Dr Sushil Kumar, Mr Ravi Kumar, Dr Pinaki Adak, Mr Amit Bisht, and Dr Ruchi Kant for their valuable contribution to the event.
