National Sports Day Celebration at TMIMT College of Physical Education

August 30 2023: At TMIMT College of Physical Education which is among the top physical education colleges in India,  National Sports Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in honor of Major Dhyan Chand's birth anniversary. The event, honored by the College of Fine Arts' Principal as Chief Guest, featured tribute to Major Dhyan Chand. It also showcased a vibrant blend of artistic talents through portrait creation, intellectual contributions showcasing Major Dhayn Chand’s life and achievements, alongside various competitions symbolising sportsmanship. Various College representatives joined hands in the event contributing to its successful organisation.

Event highlights of National Sports Day

The proceedings commenced with the ceremonial garlanding of a portrait of Major Dhyan Chand, followed by the offering of floral tributes by sports coordinators, faculty members, and students representing various colleges.

Another noteworthy moment during the event was the crafting of an impressive portrait of Major Dhyan Chand by the Principal of the College of Fine Arts. Moreover, engaging presentations by students Himanshu from the B.P.Ed programme and Godhali from the B.P.Es programme, provided valuable insights into the remarkable life and accomplishments of Major Dhyan Chand.

 Sports Recap of National Sports Day Celebration

The event featured hockey matches that served as its highlights. Students from various colleges actively participated, displaying both their sportsmanship and profound respect for Major Dhyan Chand. One of the standout moments was the zig-zag hockey event, in which 25 students participated from diverse backgrounds. In this competition, Luv Yadav Vijayee, representing the College of Physical Education's B.P.Es program, emerged as the champion.

Another engaging event challenged participants to showcase their precision by hitting the ball on target with a hockey stick. Anuj Pratap from B.Tech Mechanical secured the first position with an impressive tally of 10 goals. Following closely, Yashraj and Rizwan, with 5-5 goals each, backed the second position, while Nitin and Gaurav, scoring 4-4 goals each, secured the third position.

In the "Catch the Hockey Stick" game, Isha from the College of Physical Education took the top position, while Mansi from the College of Fine Arts secured the second place.

 Academic and Athletic Collaboration at TMU

Throughout the event, Prof. Manu Mishra, the esteemed Principal of the College of Physical Education, graced the event with his presence. The occasion also witnessed the participation of sports coordinators from various colleges, including Faculty of Engineering and CCS&IT, among others. Faculty members from the College of Fine Arts and the College of Physical Education also extended their support.

The event was skillfully hosted by Shri Prashant Pandey (M.P.Ed), adding to it's vibrant atmosphere.

Following the festivities, students from different colleges participated in the volleyball tournament, post which, the event successfully came to a close.
