The full form of B.Optom is Bachelor of Optometry. This programme prepares students to become optometrists who are trained to examine eyes, detect vision disorders, prescribe corrective lenses, assist in managing eye diseases, and provide preventive eye care services. The duration of this programme is generally four years, including academic learning and clinical internship training.

During the programme, students gain detailed knowledge of subjects such as ocular anatomy, physiology, visual optics, contact lenses, refraction, low vision care, and eye diseases.  After completing 10+2 with physics, chemistry, and biology, students can apply for this programme. Students receive practical training in hospitals, eye clinics and vision care centres where they learn to handle advanced diagnostic equipment and interact with patients.

Pursuing the B.Optom programme at Teerthanker Mahaveer University allows students to gain practical exposure through internships, hospital training, and patient interaction, which helps build confidence and professional skills from an early stage. The university has collaborations with hospitals, optical companies, diagnostic centres, and healthcare organisations, helping students explore career opportunities in hospitals, eye clinics, optical retail chains, research centres, and multinational healthcare companies.
