About BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a prestigious five-year undergraduate dental programme that includes four years of rigorous academic instruction and one year of compulsory clinical internship.  The programme is designed to equip students with in-depth theoretical knowledge, clinical proficiency, and practical training in diagnosing and managing a wide range of oral and dental health conditions. It trains students to diagnose, treat, and prevent dental problems, making you a certified dentist.

Students learn subjects such as anatomy, physiology, dental materials, oral pathology, orthodontics, and oral surgery, which help them diagnose and treat dental problems effectively. To pursue BDS, students must complete their 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and qualify for entrance exams like NEET. After completing the course, graduates can work as dentists in hospitals or clinics, pursue higher studies like MDS, or explore opportunities in research and teaching.

The BDS programme at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) includes four years of academic study and one year of compulsory clinical internship. Offered at the Dental College & Research Centre, the programme is recognised by the Dental Council of India. Students gain practical exposure through modern dental labs, advanced clinics, and real patient interactions, helping them develop skills in diagnosing and treating oral health conditions.
