You can only succeed if you are confident: Prof. (Dr.) Krishnia

On April 9th, 2022, with the aim of developing a positive self-concept and sense of self-esteem among the students, the Teerthanker Mahaveer University’s Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Development (CTLD) department organised a two-day human development workshop, held at the Faculty of Education (FOE).

The inaugural session began with a brief introduction by Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi, Asst. Prof. and the coordinator of the workshop. CTLD Director, (Dr.) Prof. RN Krishnia , one of the event’s distinguished guests, motivated students by stating the importance of self-confidence.

According to him, "Self-confidence is the key to success." Each student should focus on the development of it. Explaining the need for self-confidence, he discussed the three approaches of pedagogy, i.e., pedagogical, andragogical, and synergetic, through examples. He also said that lecturers working in higher education should primarily focus on a synergetic approach. Also, while selecting the target, we should make an action plan, keeping in mind that it should be SMART-specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound.

Director of Students’ Welfare, Prof. M. P. Singh, believes teachers are the real shapers in our lives. A teacher with a balanced personality can nurture personality characteristics among his/her students. While emphasising hands-on practice in the workshop, he also assessed the various aspects of personality, including self-esteem, awareness level, confidence level, image management, etc.

With this workshop, the students have gained insights about self-realisation, professional etiquette, gender sensitivity, goal setting, leadership ability, etc., added Dr. Mehrotra, Principal of FOE. The workshop saw a good number of students, including those from the B. Ed. and M. Ed. colleges.

Talking about CTLD, it comprises a team of ace professionals and experts utilising experiential methodology, tools, and techniques that ensure a complete transfer of learning. The pedagogy adopted was a unique blend of classroom training along with interactive and engaging activities. Explore more about the most dynamic department in the university.
