TMCON Celebrates Global Handwashing Day 2023

Global Handwashing Day is an essential annual event that aims to emphasize the significance of proper hand hygiene and raise awareness about the lifesaving act of handwashing with soap and water. On the 14th of October 2023, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, a remarkable Global Handwashing Day event was celebrated by Teerthanker Mahaveer University’s Nursing College and the event took place at the Government Primary School in Bagadpur village, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh

Aim and Purpose

The primary goal of this event was to educate school-going students about the importance of handwashing and encourage them to practice proper handwashing techniques with soap and water. Handwashing is a simple yet effective practice that plays a vital role in preventing the spread of infections.

 

Brief Description

The Department of Nursing Foundation, Teerthanker Mahaveer College of Nursing, in collaboration with SNAI, Teerthanker Mahaveer University, organized this event under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Poonam Sharma, Organizing Chairperson, Principal TMCON, Prof. Dr. M. Jasline, Organizing Co-Chairperson, Vice Principal, TMCON, Mr. Vedamurthy R, Organizing Secretary Associate Prof Cum HOD Nursing Foundation, and Dr. Ram Kumar Garg, SNAI Co-ordinator, Teerthanker Mahaveer University. The event was expertly coordinated by Ms. Pooja Rana (PG Tutor).

 

Activities at the Event

The event commenced at 10:00 AM in Government Primary School, Bagadpur, with a warm welcome to the Gram Pradhani, Mrs. Kastoori Devi, the teachers, and the students. The day started with an informative introduction to handwashing by Ms. Kenjal, a B.Sc Nursing 1st Semester student, followed by a captivating role play about the importance of hand hygiene by B.Sc (N) 1st Semester and GNM 1st Year students.

Ms. Neeraj, a GNM 1st Year student, demonstrated the proper handwashing procedure to the students. The event also featured an exciting performance by Mr. Austin and his group, who conveyed the handwashing steps through a lively dance.

Mr. Vedamurthy. R, the HOD of the Nursing Foundation, explained the critical significance of handwashing and how it can prevent the transmission of infections. As a symbolic gesture, the organizing team planted a Crotan sapling with Gram Pradhani and the teachers. Lastly, handwash demonstrations and refreshments were distributed to the students and teachers of Government Primary School, Bagadpur village.

 

Programme Appreciation

The programme received high praise from Gram Pradhani Mrs. Kastoori Devi, Bagadpur, Moradabad, and the teachers of the Government Primary School. To acknowledge the participants' dedication and enthusiasm, the organizing department awarded all the attendees with appreciation certificates.
