The Free Legal Aid Cell of the College of Law and Legal Studies, Teerthanker Mahaveer University conducted a Legal Awareness Drive on Sep 01, 2022, at Ghanshyam Das Tandon Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Kailsa. The drive aimed to spread awareness about the POCSO Act and Cyber Crime and how students can protect themselves. The students of various semesters from the College of Law and Legal Studies have participated in this program.
Before the commencement of the awareness drive, an interactive session was conducted at the university campus regarding the importance of legal aid with the Dean Professor (Dr.) Harbansh Dixit and the Principal Professor (Dr.) Sushil Kumar Singh. The students reached the prescribed location at 12:30 pm. There were around 300 students present at the event along with 20 teachers.
The session started with a welcome address by Dr. Archana Sharma, Principal, Ghanshyam Das Tandon Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Kailsa. She appreciated the efforts of TMU’s Free Legal Aid Cell and conveyed that every individual must have a basic understanding of the law. The law provides us with standard guidelines for enduring life. She also congratulated the participants with her words of wisdom.
The event was conducted in two sessions, one for the students of primary school i.e., from class I-V, and the other for the secondary school students i.e., from class VI-XII. The audience was briefed through a means workshop, which lasted around half an hour. This was followed by a question & answer session in which the students participated with zeal and enthusiasm. After the program, there was a meeting session with the teachers and the principal.
The College of Law and Legal Studies, Teerthanker Mahaveer University, is approved by the Bar Council of India. The college is providing a dynamic learning environment for young minds.
