WORLD DAY CELEBRATION-2019

Aids is a global concern without any cure, and addressing this concern is necessary for medical professionals. So Department of Public Health Dentistry, TMDC&RC, celebrated World AIDS Day on December 2, 2019, marking it as an opportunity for every community to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV, and remember those who have died. TMDC&RC firmly believes that the future generation can sensitize others and prevent the spread of HIV.

The Programme was initiated at 10.00 AM with a welcome speech by Dr. Manish Goyal (Principal & Head), where he highlighted the importance of caution to prevent this dreaded disease.

An Interactive session about HIV was followed by a Nukkad Natak (Street Play) held at Moradabad Bus stand and near Dental college OPD. The Street play focussed on spreading awareness on prevention and misconceptions about HIV infection.

Dr.Pradeep Tangade, Prof & Head, Dr. Anamika Gupta, Dr.Ankita Jain, Dr.Vikas Singh from the Department of Public Health Dentistry were also present in the street play along with students and interns of TMDCRC. A powerful and informative performance was put together using placards & posters to spread the message of caution, responsible behavior, care & support for the infected. They also explained the meaning of ‘AIDS,’ various causes, ways of transmission of ‘AIDS’ & multiple myths surrounding it.

After completing the street play, a volunteer addressed the crowd regarding various causes of ‘AIDS,’ i.e., unprotected sex, HIV/AIDS infected mother to her unborn child, use of infected needles & syringes & transfusion of infected blood.
They also spoke about awareness of how AIDS does not spread, such as social contact like shaking hands or hugging, cough or sneezing, sharing utensils & through mosquito bites.
The program was well conducted & attended by the Principal, Heads of Various Departments, Faculty members, Interns, Postgraduate and Graduate Students.
