November 5th, 2022. Looking at the need of the hour, “A Workshop on Insights of Intellectual Property Rights” was organised in the TMIMT College of Management, under the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM) for Management and Commerce Department. Mr Yasir Abassi Zaidi, the Examiner of Patents and Design, IPO, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, was invited as an Expert speaker on the occasion.
The event was organised to convey awareness and the procedure of protecting Intellectual Property among the students and teachers of different areas under the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM).
The event started with introducing the resource person, Yasir Abassi who emphasised the importance and benefits of IPR. Later, he discussed the various intellectual properties with the help of leading examples, including Apple, Samsung, Nano Car, Covishield vaccine, etc., to explain the concept of Patents. The workshop covered the registration process, examination and fee details for different intellectual properties, including career opportunities in Intellectual Property.
Following this, Director Dr. Vipin Jain shed light on other IPs like Copyright, Designs, Trademark, Trade secrets, Geographical Indications, Semiconductor Chip, Domain Names, etc. He motivated the audience to aid in the innovation process. Later, he added, “In today’s world, IPR has become an indispensable part of every profession. Countries are emphasising the promotion of intellectual assets as wealth for economic development”. While concluding his thoughts, he appreciated the conveners for the success of the event and extended best wishes to the students for their bright future.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer round satisfying the curiosity of the participants. Over 500 participants benefited, including students and faculties of the Management and Commerce department. The students appreciated the event and thanked the organisers for organising an informative and wonderful event. All the students were awarded e-certificates.
