TMU Students Exploring the Startup Ecosystem: A Visit to the Atal Incubation Centre at Shiv Nadar University, Noida

On April 28, 2023, TMU's Institution Innovation Council organised an exposure visit to the Atal Incubation Centre at Shiv Nadar University, Noida for the students of the Teerthanker Mahaveer University. The visit was organised to give a glimpse of the startup ecosystem and the facilities provided by the Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) to budding entrepreneurs. The exposure visit aimed to encourage innovative projects of students which can further be converted into sustainable start-ups.


Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) was set up under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) Niti Aayog to foster the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the country. The centre offers a range of services, including mentorship, access to funding, networking opportunities, and state-of-the-art infrastructure to support startups at various stages of their journey. The visit began with an introduction to the Atal Incubation Centre and its various programs and initiatives. The participants were then taken on a tour of the facilities, which included co-working spaces, meeting rooms, etc. This was followed by an interactive session with the team of the Atal Incubation Centre.


The participants had an opportunity to interact with some of the startup founders who were being supported by the centre. They conveyed their experiences and insights into the challenges and opportunities of starting and scaling successful start-ups in India. They also shared their experiences about the mentorship and support provided by the centre that helped them in their journey. The startup's founders present at the session shared their insights and experiences, inspiring the participants to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career option.


During the interactive session, a snapshot of various funding options, government schemes and the process of availing financial support from angel investors for startups were deliberated upon. This session provided participants with an understanding of the key elements of a successful pitch and the criteria used by investors to evaluate startups. To sum it up, students gained insight about the incubation process and the services provided by the Atal Incubation Centre (AIC).


The event was successfully coordinated by TMU-IIC Convener, Dr Geetanshu Dawar, and Startup activity coordinators Pradeep Kumar Verma, along with R.P Pandey.


Teerthanker Mahaveer University's Institution Innovation Council (TMU-IIC) has received the highest 4-star rating given to Higher Education Institutions in the National IIC ranking 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, making it among the top universities in the NRO region.
