TMU Signs MoU with Jaivik Vikalp Urja LLP for Organic Fertiliser Research
Teerthanker Mahaveer University signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jaivik Vikalp Urja LLP on 7th October 2026. The MoU with Jaivik Vikalp Urja LLP focused on research, testing and practical training in organic fertilisers and green energy.
The collaboration brought together TMU’s academic and research facilities with Jaivik Vikalp Urja LLP’s experience in Compressed Biogas (CBG) and organic fertiliser production. The partnership aimed to support scientific research, student learning and sustainable agricultural practices.
Focused on Organic Fertiliser Research
Under the MoU, TMU’s College of Agriculture Sciences and Jaivik Vikalp Urja LLP agreed to conduct laboratory studies and field trials of Liquid Fermented Organic Manure (LFOM) and Fermented Organic Manure (FOM).
The research was planned to study the nutrient quality, crop suitability and effectiveness of these organic fertilisers. Comparative studies were also planned to understand their performance against conventional fertilisers and assess their economic value for farmers.
The field trials were expected to cover vegetables, fruits and other major crops under local agricultural conditions.
Industry-Academia Collaboration Supported Student Training
The TMU MoU with Jaivik Vikalp Urja LLP also included practical learning opportunities for students. TMU students were expected to visit Jaivik’s CBG and fertiliser plant to understand production processes and gain practical exposure.
The partnership also provided for internship and placement support for eligible students. The collaboration was expected to help students connect classroom knowledge with real industry practices related to bio-energy, organic waste management and sustainable agriculture.
Village Outreach Promoted Sustainable Farming
A key part of the collaboration was community outreach. TMU students were expected to participate in awareness activities in nearby villages, agricultural events and fairs.
These activities were planned to help farmers understand the possible uses of organic fertilisers and the role of organic waste in producing green energy and agricultural inputs. The initiative also supported broader goals related to Green India, green energy and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
MoU Supported Research and Innovation
The agreement also covered intellectual property and research activities. Any new fertiliser formulations or improvements developed through the collaboration were to be handled according to the terms agreed between both parties.
Dr. Manjula Jain, Dean Academics, TMU, signed the MoU on behalf of the University. Prof. (Dr.) Amit Kanwal, Associate Dean Academics, witnessed the signing, while Dr. Parveen Kumar Jain, Dean, Teerthanker Mahaveer College of Agriculture Sciences, was also present.
Conclusion
The TMU MoU with Jaivik Vikalp Urja LLP marked a step towards stronger industry-academia collaboration in agriculture and green energy. The three-year partnership was expected to support scientific testing, field research, student training and farmer outreach while promoting practical approaches to organic fertiliser use and sustainable agriculture.
