TMU performs Legal Awareness Workshop Under Mission Shakti 5.0
Moradabad, October 16, 2025:
The Teerthanker Mahaveer College of Law and Legal Studies (TMCLLS), Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, successfully organised a Legal Awareness Workshop under the ongoing Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign. The workshop aimed to sensitise students on legal frameworks concerning women’s safety, equality, and empowerment.
The event was coordinated by Mr Sourabh Batar and Mrs Shuchita Gulyani, and was attended by 35 students from the 3rd and 5th semesters, including 20 female and 15 male participants.
Objectives of the Workshop
The workshop was designed to:
- Provide a clear understanding of laws related to women’s safety, equality, and empowerment, including domestic violence, workplace harassment, and cybercrime.
- Create awareness and encourage students to become proactive allies in promoting a safer and more equitable society.
- Instil confidence among students to recognise, assert, and defend their rights in personal, professional, and social scenarios.
Workshop Highlights
The Legal Awareness Workshop marked the first day of the “Women Empowerment – Awareness and Leadership Campaign” at TMCLLS. The session commenced with a welcome address by the coordinators, who highlighted the goals of Mission Shakti 5.0 and its alignment with TMU’s mission of fostering social responsibility and gender sensitivity.
Dr Sakshi Gupta, Assistant Professor, TMCLLS, served as the resource person and delivered an impactful session focusing on the constitutional and legal framework for women’s rights in India. Her lecture covered key legislation such as:
- The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005
- The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH)
- Relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on assault, cyberbullying, and stalking
- Laws governing cyber safety and digital protection
To ensure practical understanding, students participated in case study analyses, where real and hypothetical scenarios were discussed in groups to identify legal issues and solutions. This activity promoted critical thinking and engaged students in collaborative learning.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion and Q&A session, during which students raised pertinent questions about legal recourse, complaint procedures, and the role of authorities. Dr Gupta addressed all queries with clarity, fostering a better understanding of legal rights and protection mechanisms.
Impact and Conclusion
The Legal Awareness Workshop proved to be a powerful learning platform that aligned with the core objectives of Mission Shakti 5.0—to empower young citizens with legal awareness, gender sensitivity, and social responsibility.
By equipping students with vital knowledge on women’s rights and legal safeguards, TMCLLS has reinforced its commitment to creating a legally aware, confident, and gender-just campus environment. The event received positive feedback from participants and served as another strong step toward building an inclusive and informed student community at Teerthanker Mahaveer University.
