TMU Organises Women Empowerment Awareness Programme Under Mission Shakti 5.0, Connecting Nari Shakti with Navratri
Moradabad, 16 October 2026: The Faculty of Education at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, organised a Women Empowerment Awareness Programme under Mission Shakti 5.0 (Second Stage) to promote women's dignity, safety, equality, self-confidence and independence. The programme connected the spirit of Nari Shakti with the cultural significance of Navratri, highlighting the importance of empowering women in building a strong and progressive society.
The programme witnessed the participation of 85 individuals, including 50 girl students, 20 boy students and 15 faculty and staff members. It aimed to sensitise students to gender equality and encourage them to contribute towards creating a respectful, inclusive and supportive environment for women.
Connecting Nari Shakti with the Spirit of Navratri
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Poonam Chauhan, Coordinator, Mission Shakti Programme, who highlighted the importance of women's empowerment in social progress and national development.
She connected the objectives of Mission Shakti 5.0 (Second Stage) with the spirit of Navratri and the concept of Nari Shakti. She also emphasised the need to ensure women's safety, dignity, equal opportunities and self-confidence, encouraging students to recognise and respect the vital role women play in society.
Video Screening Highlights Women's Empowerment
As part of the programme, a short video on women's empowerment was screened for students. It highlighted key themes, including women's education, equality, safety, confidence and independence, while illustrating how empowered women contribute to their families, communities and the nation.
The screening encouraged students to understand that empowerment begins with education, awareness of one's rights and the development of self-confidence. It also reinforced the importance of providing women with equal opportunities to pursue their aspirations and participate fully in society.
Promoting Gender Equality and Mutual Respect
The programme emphasised that women's empowerment is a shared responsibility rather than an issue concerning women alone. Both girls and boys were encouraged to respect and support women, speak against discrimination and promote gender equality in their everyday lives.
Students were sensitised to the importance of creating an environment where women can live with dignity, exercise their rights and pursue their goals without fear or discrimination. The initiative also encouraged them to share the message of women's empowerment with their families, friends and the wider community.
Faculty Guidance and Programme Coordination
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Poonam Chauhan, Coordinator, Mission Shakti Programme, under the guidance of Dr. Vinod Jain, Principal, Faculty of Education, TMU.
The initiative was conducted under the broader guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shivanee M. Kaul, Nodal Officer, Mission Shakti 5.0 (Second Stage), Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad.
Key Outcomes of the Programme
The awareness programme strengthened students' understanding of women's dignity, safety, equality and empowerment. It highlighted the role of education and self-confidence in enabling women to become independent and reinforced the message that gender equality requires the active participation of both girls and boys.
By connecting Mission Shakti 5.0 (Second Stage) with the spirit of Navratri, the initiative encouraged students to embrace respect, equality and shared responsibility as essential values for social progress.
Through this programme, Teerthanker Mahaveer University reaffirmed its commitment to women's empowerment, gender awareness and the development of a safe, inclusive and supportive society.
