TMU Organises Street Play “From Doordarshan Mode to Smart TV Mode” Under Mission Shakti 5.0

Moradabad, October 6, 2025 — The Teerthanker Mahaveer Dental College and Research Centre, under the banner of Mission Shakti 5.0, organised a thought-provoking street play titled “From Doordarshan Mode to Smart TV Mode – A Story of Women Empowerment.” The event, held in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Police, aimed to inspire women to recognise their inner strength, self-worth, and potential in every sphere of life.

The initiative sought to challenge social stereotypes while promoting a progressive, inclusive, and gender-balanced society through education, awareness, and creative expression. The event witnessed the participation of over 100 women and 50 members of the Dental College community.

Objectives of the Program

The awareness program was organised with the following key objectives:

  • To promote mutual respect and cooperation between men and women for a progressive and inclusive community.
  • To motivate individuals to take small yet impactful steps toward supporting women’s empowerment in daily life.
  • To celebrate the achievements of women and spread the message that “Empowered Women Empower the Nation.”

Street Play Highlights: “From Doordarshan Mode to Smart TV Mode”

A compelling street play on women's empowerment was the highlight of the event. Conceptualised and performed by the Department of Public Health Dentistry and intern students, the play showcased the evolution of women’s roles in society—from traditional restrictions to modern independence.

The narrative creatively depicted how women have transitioned from being confined to domestic spaces (“Doordarshan Mode”) to becoming leaders, professionals, and decision-makers in today’s dynamic world (“Smart TV Mode”).

The play’s central message reinforced the importance of gender equality, education, and empowerment, urging society to replace sympathy with recognition and respect for women.

Dignitaries and Expert Insights

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr Neelima Jain, Dr Pradeep Tangde, Dr Ankita Jain, Dr M.P. Singh, and Dr Harshita Pandey.

Dr Neelima Jain and Dr Ankita Jain emphasised the need for equal opportunities and education for women to ensure balanced growth across genders.
Dr M.P. Singh appreciated the creative initiative, applauding the students’ efforts in promoting social responsibility and awareness through art.
