TMU Organises Simulation-Based Breast Self-Examination Training Under Mission Shakti 5.0

Moradabad, 14 March 2026: Teerthanker Mahaveer University, through its College of Paramedical Sciences, successfully organised a Simulation-Based Training on Breast Self-Examination (BSE) Techniques for Community Screening under the flagship initiative Mission Shakti 5.0. The programme was conducted at Room No. 515, Nursing Building, with active participation from 81 female students, 13 workers, and 11 faculty members.

The initiative aimed to strengthen women’s health awareness and equip participants with practical skills for early detection of breast abnormalities, reinforcing the importance of preventive healthcare.

Promoting Early Detection Through Skill-Based Training

Breast cancer remains one of the leading health concerns among women, where early diagnosis plays a crucial role in improving survival outcomes. Recognising this, TMU adopted a simulation-based learning approach, enabling participants to gain hands-on experience in performing Breast Self-Examination (BSE) in a structured and controlled environment.

The programme was organised in collaboration with leading innovation and government-backed bodies, including:

  • Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)

Objectives of the Training Programme

The primary objectives of the programme were:

  • To develop practical competency in Breast Self-Examination (BSE) using simulation models
  • To enhance awareness about early detection of breast abnormalities
  • To empower students and faculty to educate community women on BSE techniques
  • To promote preventive healthcare practices and women’s empowerment
  • To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-life application

Inaugural Session

The session began with an introduction to Mission Shakti 5.0 and its role in promoting women’s safety, health, and empowerment.

An insightful session was delivered by Ms Rashmi Pandey, Assistant Professor in Radio-Imaging Technology at TMU. She elaborated on:

Participants observed a step-by-step demonstration of BSE techniques using simulation models, ensuring clarity in understanding correct procedures.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by student anchor Ms Palak Keshri, creating an engaging atmosphere.

Prof. (Dr.) Ruchi Kant, Chief Guest and Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques, emphasised the critical importance of early detection in breast cancer prevention and highlighted the role of BSE in saving lives.

The expert speaker, Ms Rashmi Pandey, was introduced as a distinguished academician with expertise in advanced imaging techniques, recognised for her contributions to research and innovation in MRI-based systems.
