TMU Organises National Anti-Ragging Awareness week

Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, observed National Anti-Ragging Day by organising an Anti-Ragging Awareness Week at the Medical College and Research Centre. The programme was conducted under the directives of the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission (UGC), and National Medical Commission (NMC).

The online event aimed to spread awareness among students about the serious social and legal consequences of ragging and to reinforce the university’s commitment towards maintaining a ragging-free campus.

Keynote Address on the Impact of Ragging

The session was led by Prof. N.K. Singh, who delivered the keynote address. He elaborated on the psychological, social, and academic ill-effects of ragging, making it clear that ragging not only damages the self-confidence of the affected students but also creates a negative academic environment.

Prof. Singh appealed to students to uphold mutual respect, harmony, and brotherhood to help build a safe, positive, and inclusive learning atmosphere at TMU.

Awareness on Anti-Ragging Policies and Legal Provisions

The event witnessed active participation from a large number of students and faculty members of the Medical College. During the session, detailed information was shared regarding:

  • Anti-ragging rules and regulations
  • The university’s strict policies against ragging
  • Legal provisions and consequences of ragging

Students were informed about the availability of helpline numbers and the online portal where complaints can be registered at any time.

Oath Ceremony Against Ragging

After the programme, all participants collectively took the Anti-Ragging Oath, pledging to:

  • Keep the campus ragging-free
  • Treat new students with friendship and respect
  • Oppose and report any form of ragging activities

This symbolic gesture reaffirmed TMU’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and its commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and conducive academic environment for all students.

Part of National Anti-Ragging Week 2025

The initiative at TMU is part of the National Anti-Ragging Week 2025, being observed across India from 12th to 18th August. Throughout the week, TMU will organise multiple activities, competitions, campaigns, and awareness drives to further strengthen the anti-ragging movement.

Prominent faculty members, including Dr. Seema Awasthi, Dr. Jay vallabh, Dr. Sudhir Singh, Dr. Roopa Raj Bhandari, and Dr. Vikas, along with several others, graced the programme with their presence.

TMU’s Stand on Ragging

With this initiative, TMU once again highlighted its zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. The university reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring a safe, secure, and inclusive campus where students can thrive without fear and pursue their academic journey in a positive environment.
