TMU Organises Breast Cancer and Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Programme under Mission Shakti 5.0

The Department of General Surgery, Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre (TMMC&RC), under Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, organised an awareness programme on “Breast Cancer and Menstrual Hygiene” under the Mission Shakti 5.0 initiative.
The session was designed to empower women with essential knowledge about early detection of breast cancer and the importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene — two vital aspects of women’s health and well-being. A total of 50 female participants and 6 faculty members actively attended the event.
Objective of the Programme
The awareness programme was conducted with the following objectives:
- To educate women about self-breast examination techniques for early detection of breast abnormalities.
- To create awareness about menstrual hygiene and its role in preventing infections and maintaining reproductive health.
Programme Activities
The workshop featured informative lectures, educational video clips, and clinical demonstrations that guided participants on self-breast examination and menstrual hygiene practices.
Experts from the Department of General Surgery highlighted the importance of early detection and preventive health practices, explaining how timely awareness can reduce risks associated with breast cancer. Participants were encouraged to adopt regular self-examination and hygienic menstrual management as part of their routine health care.
Interactive discussions and visual aids were used to make the session engaging and relatable. The participants appreciated the clarity and practicality of the information shared, reflecting the initiative’s success in promoting health awareness among women.

The awareness programme on Breast Cancer and Menstrual Hygiene under Mission Shakti 5.0 achieved its objective of educating and empowering women with essential knowledge for safeguarding their health.
Through interactive sessions and live demonstrations, participants learned how to perform self-breast examinations and maintain menstrual hygiene, promoting preventive care and early disease detection.
