TMU Organised a Large-Scale Tree Plantation Drive to Promote Environmental Conservation

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Teerthanker Mahaveer University successfully organised a tree plantation drive under the Mission LiFE initiative and the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. The event was jointly conducted by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit and the Environment Club of TMU. The university community came together to strengthen its commitment to environmental conservation by planting nearly 100 saplings across the campus.

The plantation programme was held at the university helipad and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and university officials. The event aimed to encourage sustainable living and spread awareness about the importance of protecting nature.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. V. K. Jain Led the Plantation Campaign

The programme was inaugurated by TMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. V. K. Jain, who served as the chief guest. He planted a sapling to mark the beginning of the campaign and addressed the participants on the significance of environmental protection.

Prof. Jain stated that trees play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and ensuring a healthier future for future generations. He encouraged students and faculty members to actively participate in environmental initiatives and contribute to creating a greener planet.

During the drive, a variety of saplings, including mango, jamun, amla, and ashoka, were planted. These species were selected to enhance biodiversity and increase greenery within the university campus.

Around 100 Students Participated with Great Enthusiasm

Nearly 100 students participated in the plantation activity and took a pledge to nurture and care for the saplings in the future. Their active involvement reflected a strong sense of environmental responsibility and commitment toward sustainable development.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vinod Jain, Advisor of the Environment Club, emphasised that environmental conservation should not be limited to a single day. He highlighted that protecting nature is an ongoing responsibility and urged students to plant more trees and ensure their proper maintenance.

The event also saw the presence of several university dignitaries, including Director of Student Welfare Prof. (Dr.) M. P. Singh, Upendra Malik, and Deepak Malik. NSS coordinators from various colleges, faculty advisors of the Environment Club, teachers, and volunteers also participated in the campaign.

TMU Inspired Students to Support Sustainable Development Goals

Through the World Environment Day at TMU initiative, students were encouraged to become more sensitive toward nature and adopt practices that support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The campaign highlighted the importance of individual action in addressing environmental challenges and building a sustainable future.

The university also used the occasion to spread awareness about the need for increasing green cover and preserving natural resources for future generations.
