TMU News: Summer Faculty Development Programme on Academic Systems and Processes 2025
Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, successfully conducted a 10-day Summer Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Academic Systems and Processes” from 16th to 26th June 2025, organised by the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Development (CTLD). The programme was designed to enhance faculty competence in academic policies, research, communication, institutional processes, and student-focused practices.
Programme Overview
The FDP provided faculty members with insights into contemporary academic systems, research guidance, and digital integration. It included sessions by university leaders and domain experts covering NEP 2020 reforms, CBCS, accreditation, innovation, research opportunities, effective communication, project supervision, and digital marketing. Special emphasis was placed on developing moral and ethical values in students, and fostering awareness of mental and physical health for both students and teachers.
A total of 52 faculty members participated, and certificates were awarded to those attending at least 8 out of 10 days.
Session Highlights
Role and Responsibilities of a Teacher
Date: 16th June 2025 | Speaker: Prof. (Dr.) V. K. Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, TMU
The session highlighted the evolving role of educators, emphasising their moral, ethical, and mentoring responsibilities. Faculty were encouraged to become facilitators, role models, and life-long learners, promoting holistic student development.
Fostering Innovation & Startup Ecosystem
Date: 17th June 2025 | Speakers: Dr. Manjula Jain, Mr. Prashant Singh, Mr. Pradeep Verma
The session introduced TMU’s innovation ecosystem through TMU-BIC and IIC, seed funding opportunities, and national schemes like YUKTI and Smart India Hackathon, highlighting how faculty can encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.
Effective and Assertive Communication
Date: 18th June 2025 | Speaker: Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Kumar Singh, Director – CTLD
The session focused on interpersonal communication, assertiveness, non-verbal cues, and the “I feel – When – Because – I need” framework for constructive dialogue.
Projects, Internships, and Practical Supervision
Date: 19th June 2025 | Speaker: Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Dwivedi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering
Faculty were trained on effective supervision of projects, internships, and practicals, integrating outcome-based planning and assessment.
NEP 2020 and Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS)
Date: 20th June 2025 | Speaker: Prof. Amit Kansal
Prof. Kansal explained the flexible, multidisciplinary approach of NEP 2020 and the benefits of CBCS in promoting student choice, experiential learning, and competency-based education.
Ranking, Accreditation & NAAC 7-Criterion
Date: 21st June 2025 | Speaker: Prof. (Dr.) Nishith Kumar Mishra, Director – IQAC
Sessions covered NAAC accreditation, NIRF and QS rankings, data management, and continuous quality improvement across the seven NAAC criteria.
Critical Thinking & Decision-Making in Academia
Date: 23rd June 2025 | Speaker: Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Kumar Singh
Faculty learned to foster critical thinking, media literacy, and inquiry-based learning in classrooms.
Research and Development at TMU
Date: 24th June 2025 | Speaker: Dr. Piyush Mittal
The session provided insights into research opportunities, consultancy, IPR, seed funding, and PhD fellowships, encouraging publication output and innovation.
Digital Marketing & Website Development
Date: 25th June 2025 | Speaker: Mr. Nitesh Jaiswal
Faculty were trained on SEO tools, content strategy, and TMU digital platforms to promote institutional branding and share departmental achievements.
Learning Resources and Their Use
Date: 26th June 2025 | Speaker: Dr Vineeta Jain, Head – University Library
Faculty explored TMU’s digital library infrastructure, including NDLI, Shodhganga, e-ShodhSindhu, e-books, journals, and other databases to enhance teaching and research.
Attendance and Certification
Attendance was monitored, with 30 participants achieving 80–100% attendance, including 15 faculty with 100% attendance. Certificates were awarded to eligible participants, reflecting their dedication.
FDP Test and Results
The Academic Systems and Processes Module Test assessed faculty understanding of academic structures. Out of 35 participants:
- Highest Score: 46/50 (92%)
- Average Score: 39.58/50 (79.15%)
- Lowest Score: 32/50 (64%)
The results indicate strong engagement and effective knowledge transfer.
Feedback Analysis
A total of 258 responses were received on content relevancy, session quality, engagement, and pacing:
- Content Relevance: 67.8% Strongly Agreed
- Content Quality: 61.2% Strongly Agreed
- Boosting Future Participation: 64.3% Strongly Agreed
- Session Pacing: 62.8% Strongly Agreed
- Most Useful Aspects: 61.6% Strongly Agreed
Faculty valued sessions on NEP 2020, CBCS, NAAC, research incentives, innovation, entrepreneurship, communication, and learning resources. Participants also highlighted the importance of developing moral and ethical values and mental and physical well-being awareness for students and teachers.
Outcome
The Summer FDP 2025 provided a structured platform for capacity building, professional growth, and academic excellence. Faculty gained insights into national education policies, research ecosystems, innovative practices, and digital tools. The program successfully fostered an environment of learning, engagement, and holistic student and faculty development, inspiring participants to implement these best practices in their departments.
