TMU Leadership Talk Series Inspired Students with Battlefield Leadership Lessons
The 13th session of the TMU Leadership Talk Series was held on April 15, 2025, at Teerthanker Mahaveer University with great enthusiasm and energy. The session was based on the theme “Transforming Challenges into Triumphs: Leadership Lessons from the Battlefield and Beyond.” The event featured renowned speaker Major Mohammad Ali Shah, who inspired students and faculty members with his remarkable life journey and powerful leadership lessons.
The auditorium was filled with excitement as Major Shah shared his experiences from the Indian Army, the entertainment industry, and the world of motivational speaking. A decorated Army veteran, internationally acclaimed TEDx speaker, corporate trainer, actor, defence analyst, and founder of a leading online communication academy, Major Shah captivated everyone with his confidence, powerful personality, and motivating words. His powerful words and real-life stories deeply connected with the audience and created a lasting impact.
The session was graced by the presence of Shri Akshat Jain, Executive Director of TMU, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Janhvi Jain, member of the Governing Body of the university, also attended the session and encouraged students to develop leadership qualities and confidence in life.
Inspiring Journey of Major Mohammad Ali Shah
During the programme, Major Mohammad Ali Shah spoke about his journey from serving in the Indian Army to becoming an international TEDx speaker. He shared how challenges and failures helped him become stronger and more determined in life.
He talked about serving in difficult areas near the Indo-Pak border and in North East India with the Assam Rifles. Through his experiences, he explained that leadership is not about power or position, but about responsibility, courage, and service towards others.
Major Shah also shared emotional stories from the battlefield that highlighted teamwork, sacrifice, and humanity. One story about a soldier risking his life to save a child during combat touched everyone in the auditorium. He explained that true leadership means helping others even in the most difficult situations.
Leadership Lessons from the Battlefield
The session gave students important lessons about resilience, emotional strength, and decision-making. Major Shah encouraged students to stay calm during difficult situations and believe in themselves even when facing uncertainty.
He explained that failures should not be seen as the end of the journey but as opportunities to learn and grow. According to him, every challenge prepares a person for bigger achievements in life. He motivated students to adopt a growth mindset and continuously work on self-improvement.
Major Shah also connected military leadership with daily life and professional careers. He explained how qualities like discipline, integrity, confidence, and teamwork are essential for success in every field.
The session was coordinated successfully by Dr. Neha Anand, Assistant Director–Academics, and Dr. Varun K. Singh, Deputy Registrar, under the Leadership Talk Series Committee.
