TMU Leadership Talk Series Inspired Students with “A Middle-Class Dream”
The 14th session of the Leadership Talk Series was held on May 5, 2025, at Teerthanker Mahaveer University with the inspiring theme “A Middle-Class Dream.” The session featured renowned filmmaker, writer, producer, and storyteller Tanuj Bhatia, who shared his emotional and motivational journey with students and faculty members.
The auditorium was filled with excitement as students gathered to listen to the award-winning filmmaker speak about dreams, struggles, hard work, and success. Through his heartfelt stories and personal experiences, Mr Bhatia connected deeply with the audience, especially students who related to the realities of middle-class life.
Felicitation Ceremony Marked a Warm Welcome
The session began with a felicitation ceremony where Prof. Manjula Jain, Dean–Academics; Prof. Vipin Jain, Dean–Faculty of Management; Prof. Amit Kansal, Associate Dean–Academics; and Dr Vinita Jain, University Librarian, honoured Tanuj Bhatia with a token of appreciation on behalf of the university.
The university also welcomed Ms Tanuka Laghate, the wife of Mr Bhatia, as a special guest. Her presence added warmth and positivity to the event.
Inspiring Journey of an Award-Winning Storyteller
During the session, Mr Bhatia shared his inspiring journey from humble beginnings to becoming an internationally recognised filmmaker. He spoke about the challenges he faced, the rejections he experienced, and the determination that helped him move forward.
Known for his documentaries, short films, and impactful storytelling, Mr Bhatia has received several prestigious honours, including the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards. His works have also been recognised at major film festivals such as the Pune Film Festival and the Calcutta International Short Film Festival.
He explained how middle-class families teach the value of patience, sacrifice, and dreams. One of the most emotional moments of the session came when he shared how rejection during his early filmmaking career almost made him quit. However, he used that experience as motivation to work harder and trust his vision.
Powerful Message for Students
A major highlight of the programme was Mr Bhatia’s message about authenticity and self-belief. He encouraged students to stay connected to their roots and values while aiming for global success.
He told students that honest efforts and pure intentions always create opportunities. His words motivated many students to believe in themselves and continue working towards their goals despite challenges.
The audience listened with great attention throughout the session, and students actively interacted with the speaker after the talk. The emotional connection between the speaker and the audience made the session truly memorable.
Memento Presentation and Vote of Thanks
Towards the end of the session, the university presented a memento to Tanuj Bhatia as a symbol of gratitude for his inspiring presence. The memento was presented by senior university dignitaries, including Prof. M. P. Singh, Dean–Student Welfare.
Prof. Vipin Jain delivered the concluding remarks and thanked the speaker for sharing such valuable life lessons with the students. He also appreciated the efforts of the organising committee for making the 14th session of the Leadership Talk Series successful.

Exclusive Panel Discussion on Dreams and Entrepreneurship
After lunch, an exclusive panel discussion titled “Real Talk, Real Journeys: A Panel Discussion on Resilience, Persistence, and the Power to Dream Boldly” was organised for the finalists of the TMU Innovation Ignition Program–2025.
During the discussion, Tanuj Bhatia shared how resilience and persistence helped him build two successful startups. He explained how strong vision and hard work transformed his entrepreneurial dreams into a multimillion-dollar business journey.
The discussion inspired young innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs to dream big and stay committed to their goals.
Courtesy Meetings with University Leadership
Following the session, Tanuj Bhatia held a courtesy meeting with V. K. Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the university. They discussed the importance of storytelling, media, and creative industries in shaping young minds.
Mr Bhatia also met Akshat Jain, Executive Director of TMU. During the interaction, future possibilities such as mentorship programs, masterclasses, and startup collaborations were discussed.
