TMU Hosts Expert Lecture on Innovative Oncorehabilitation in Oral and Breast Cancer Recovery
Moradabad, April 19, 2025 — The Department of Physiotherapy at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) organised a comprehensive and forward-thinking guest lecture titled "Innovative Oncorehabilitation: Cutting-edge Strategies for Enhancing Recovery in Oral and Breast Cancer". The event brought together aspiring physiotherapists and experts to explore advanced rehabilitation methods for cancer patients, fostering academic and clinical insight.
A Thoughtful Beginning to a Transformative Session
Held in Lecture Theatre LT-603, the session commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony and an inaugural address delivered by Prof. Shivanee M. Kaul, Head of the Department. The event witnessed the participation of students from BPT 2nd Semester, BPT 4th Year, and MPT 2nd Semester, as well as dedicated faculty members. The programme was hosted by students Ishani and Anant from MPT 2nd Semester, who ensured a seamless flow of the session.
Insightful Keynote Address by Dr. Mitali Yadav
The keynote speaker, Dr. Mitali Yadav (PT) — Consultant Physiotherapist, Content Creator, and Co-founder of TIMES PHYSIO — delivered an enlightening presentation on innovative rehabilitation strategies for oral and breast cancer patients. Her talk addressed critical challenges and recovery techniques, including:
- Lymphedema management
- Trismus (jaw stiffness) relief strategies
- Post-mastectomy complication care
- Cancer-related fatigue rehabilitation
She emphasised the vital role of manual therapy, customised exercise programmes, and the overall contribution of physiotherapy in enhancing the quality of life of cancer survivors.
Live Demonstrations and Career Guidance
Adding a practical edge to the lecture, Dr. Yadav conducted live demonstrations of essential oncorehabilitation techniques such as manual lymph drainage and jaw mobility exercises, offering students valuable clinical exposure.
In addition to the technical insights, the session also featured a brief career-oriented talk by Dr. Vibhore Bakliwal and Dr. Yash Goswami. They shared guidance on global career pathways and higher education opportunities in the field of physiotherapy, encouraging students to think beyond borders.
