TMU Organises Self-Defence Programme Under Mission Shakti 5.0

Moradabad: The TMIMT College of Physical Education at Teerthanker Mahaveer University conducted a Self-Defence Training Programme under Mission Shakti 5.0 on 18 April 2026. The session, held at the Indoor Sports Complex, witnessed the participation of 150 female students from the College of Paramedical Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy, and College of Nursing.

Organised as a continuation of the initiative launched on 17 April 2026, the programme aimed to equip young women with practical self-defence skills while enhancing their confidence, awareness, and readiness to handle challenging situations.

Promoting Safety, Confidence, and Self-Reliance

The training session was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Manu Mishra, Principal, TMIMT College of Physical Education. The initiative focused on empowering students with both physical techniques and mental preparedness, reinforcing the importance of personal safety and proactive decision-making.

Key Objectives of the Programme

The programme was designed to address multiple aspects of women’s empowerment:

  • To create awareness about personal safety and preventive strategies
  • To equip students with practical self-defence techniques
  • To enhance mental alertness, focus, and confidence

The session included hands-on training led by experienced self-defence instructors, covering essential techniques:

  • Guarding and Blocking: Learning defensive stances and protective positioning
  • Release from Grabs and Holds: Techniques to escape wrist holds, arm locks, and shoulder grips
  • Basic Counter-Attack Skills: Controlled responses such as palm heel strikes and knee strikes
  • Awareness and Reaction Training: Improving reflexes, alertness, and real-time decision-making

Participants actively practised these techniques individually and in supervised groups, demonstrating strong engagement and enthusiasm throughout the programme.

Observations and Outcomes

The programme delivered significant learning outcomes:

  • Enhanced confidence and self-belief among participants
