TMU Conducts Expert Guest Lecture on Innovative Cardio-Pulmonary Assessment for Physiotherapists
Moradabad, 25 April 2025 — The Department of Physiotherapy at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) organised a specialised guest lecture on “Innovative Cardio-Pulmonary Assessment for Physiotherapists: Skills, Innovation, Mentorship” on 25th April 2025. The academic event was held at LT-603, 5th Floor, and welcomed students and faculty to an enlightening session led by industry expert Dr. Aashish Negi (PT), Assistant Professor, Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun.
Inaugural Ceremony and Welcome Address
The event commenced at 10:00 AM with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the inaugural address by Prof. Shivanee M. Kaul, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy. She highlighted the importance of integrating innovation and mentorship into the clinical training of budding physiotherapists, particularly in the cardio-pulmonary domain.
Keynote Session by Dr. Aashish Negi
Dr. Aashish Negi, a seasoned professional in cardio-pulmonary physiotherapy, delivered an engaging and insightful lecture that focused on modern techniques and structured assessments relevant to the discipline. The keynote presentation revolved around the five key components of cardio-pulmonary examination:
- Observation
- Palpation
- Inspection
- Auscultation
- Investigation
Dr. Negi emphasised the importance of clinical precision and innovation in detecting and managing cardio-pulmonary conditions. The session provided students with valuable exposure to techniques that bridge academic learning with real-world clinical practice.
Live Demonstration and Skill Integration
A live demonstration formed a highlight of the session, where Dr. Negi illustrated:
- Reading and interpretation of Chest X-rays
- Conducting and understanding Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT)
- Practical insights into Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analysis
These demonstrations enabled students to visualise diagnostic methods in action, enhancing their understanding of theoretical concepts through practical application.
