Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) organised a large Tree Plantation Drive under the Uttar Pradesh Government's Tree Plantation Mega Campaign 2026 and the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative. The event was conducted under the banner of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and was managed by the Office of the Dean of Students' Welfare. During the campaign, 600 saplings were planted across the university campus to support environmental conservation and increase green cover.

A total of 600 saplings were planted during the event. The plantation included different tree species such as Neem, Bel, Jamun, Kanji, Gulmohar, Ashok, Sagwan (Teak), Badalbas, and Hibiscus. These plants were selected to improve biodiversity, increase green spaces, and support environmental protection.

Geo-Tagging Made the Campaign More Effective

After the plantation, every sapling was geo-tagged using the Haritima App. This step helped create a digital record of each plant and made it easier to monitor its growth and survival in the future. The geo-tagging process also supported the Uttar Pradesh Government's efforts to ensure proper care and maintenance of newly planted trees.

The use of technology made the plantation drive more organised and helped strengthen the overall impact of the campaign.

Teachers, Staff, and Volunteers Participated

Many teachers, university staff, and NSS volunteers actively took part in the TMU Tree Plantation Drive. Among those present were Deepak Malik, Mamta Yadav, Shivanki, Dr Arpita, Dr Mukta, Dr Sugandha, Poonam Chauhan, Shivani Yadav, Mahesh, and several other members of the university community.

The participants planted saplings together and encouraged everyone to plant more trees and take responsibility for protecting them. They also shared the message that planting trees is one of the simplest ways to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.

Conclusion

The Tree Plantation Drive successfully planted 600 saplings under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign and the Uttar Pradesh Tree Plantation Mega Campaign 2026. The initiative promoted environmental awareness, increased the university's green cover, and encouraged sustainable practices. With the support of geo-tagging technology and the active participation of students, teachers, and staff, the campaign became an important step toward protecting nature and building a greener future.
