TMU Concludes Faculty Development Programme on Human Values
Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), successfully concluded a three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Universal Human Values. The programme aimed to familiarise faculty members with the core importance of human values in education, while inspiring them to become responsible, ethical, and value-driven mentors.
Inauguration and Purpose
The opening session was graced by Prof. Manjula Jain, Dean of Academics at TMU, who introduced the participants to the programme’s objectives and emphasised the need for a self-reflective educational model. She highlighted that education should not only impart knowledge but also foster introspection and a deeper understanding of life’s purpose.
Role of Conveners and Coordinators
The event was effectively coordinated by Dr Neha Anand, who served as the Programme Convener, and Dr Varun Kumar Singh, the Co-Convener. Both played a pivotal role in managing and conducting the sessions seamlessly over the course of three days.
Day-wise Highlights
Day 1: Journey to Inner Peace and Purpose
The first day focused on the understanding that true happiness is not rooted solely in material comforts but arises from spiritual balance and meaningful living. Through sessions centred around self-awareness and introspection, participants were encouraged to redefine their life’s purpose and explore the importance of a balanced, conscious existence.
Day 2: Fostering Harmony in Relationships
The second day revolved around creating harmony in relationships and enhancing mutual understanding. Topics such as trust, respect, and mutual fulfilment were explored not just theoretically but also through life experiences. Educators shared personal stories, making the sessions interactive, relatable, and impactful.
Day 3: Environmental Balance and Social Responsibility
On the third day, the discussions broadened in scope, addressing themes like harmony with nature, sustainable development, and the social role of educators. The sessions underlined that teachers are not only sources of knowledge but also carriers of ethical and social awareness. Education was viewed as a societal responsibility rather than just a profession.
Valedictory Session with the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor
The Valedictory Session saw the presence of Dr V. K. Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of TMU, who elevated the programme with his inspiring address. He stated that in today’s era, educational institutions bear the responsibility of cultivating academic environments that blend knowledge with values. He urged all educators to integrate the principles learned during the FDP into their teaching methodologies, conduct, and institutional culture.
Alignment with the National Education Policy 2020
This Faculty Development Programme was closely aligned with the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises self-reflection, social harmony, and environmental sustainability as core educational goals. The programme equipped educators with a fresh perspective, renewed purpose, and ethical clarity.
Participation from Regional Institutions
The event also witnessed active participation from faculty representatives of various regional institutions, including St. Meera Academy (Moradabad), Impact College (Rampur), and Apex Engineering College (Bilaspur). Their presence added diverse academic insights and regional representation to the programme.
More Than a Training — A Transformational Experience
This Faculty Development Programme was not merely a training series but a conceptual journey — one that enriched the educators morally, socially, and professionally. It empowered them to become torchbearers of ethical education and human-centric teaching.
