Moradabad: The Teerthanker Mahaveer College of Law and Legal Studies (TMCLLS), a constituent of Teerthanker Mahaveer University, successfully organised a Legal Awareness Workshop – Mission Shakti 5.0 on 13th April 2026 at its Conference Hall.

The workshop marked the inaugural event of a two-day Women Empowerment – Awareness and Leadership Campaign, conducted under the Government-led initiative Mission Shakti 5.0. The session witnessed the participation of 35 students from the 3rd and 5th semesters, including 20 girls and 15 boys.

Promoting Legal Literacy for Women's Empowerment

The workshop was conceptualised to strengthen legal awareness among students and bridge the gap between legislative provisions and real-life application. It aimed to equip aspiring legal professionals with the knowledge and confidence to understand, assert, and advocate for women’s rights across personal, professional, and societal domains.

Key Objectives of the Workshop

The programme focused on the following objectives:

  • Enhancing understanding of laws related to women’s safety, equality, and empowerment
  • Creating a sensitised and inclusive environment, encouraging proactive participation
  • Building confidence among students to recognise and defend their legal rights

The workshop featured an engaging session by Dr Atul Kumar, Assistant Professor at TMCLLS, who delivered a comprehensive and practical overview of legal frameworks related to women’s rights.

Dr Kumar provided in-depth insights into the constitutional and legal provisions safeguarding women in India. Key legislations discussed included:

  • Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005
  • Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (POSH) Act, 2013
  • Relevant IPC provisions addressing assault, stalking, and cybercrime
  • Digital safety and cyber laws

Case Study Analysis:
Students were divided into groups to analyse real-life and hypothetical legal scenarios. This activity encouraged critical thinking, collaborative learning, and practical application of legal principles.

Q&A and Open Discussion:
An interactive session allowed participants to raise queries regarding complaint procedures, legal remedies, and the role of authorities. Dr Kumar addressed these questions with clarity, offering actionable guidance.
