TMU College of Engineering Organised Information Session on GATE & JAM Exams
Teerthanker Mahaveer University's College of Engineering (COE & CCSIT) organised an information session on the GATE and JAM exams for the Master's in association with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee. The session was conducted in the form of a workshop with the theme of Skill Enhancement, aimed at guiding students towards higher education and career opportunities.
Objective of the Session
The session was organised to create awareness among undergraduate and final-year students about the GATE and JAM examinations, their benefits, exam patterns, eligibility, and career prospects. The programme mainly focused on helping students understand how these national-level exams open doors to M.Tech, M.Sc., PhD, fellowships, scholarships, and government opportunities.
Prof. R.K. Dwivedi delivered an inspiring address, describing GATE as the “Gateway to Success and Pride”. He explained the importance of writing the GATE examination for engineering students and motivated them through his unique style, blending humour, real-life examples, and serious guidance. His speech encouraged students to prepare with focus and confidence.
Expert Session by IIT Roorkee Guest
The expert session was delivered by Prof. Prateek Kumar Jha from IIT Roorkee, who explained the purpose and importance of the GATE and JAM examinations in a clear and simple manner. He shared that GATE assesses in-depth engineering knowledge and aptitude for admissions to M.Tech, PhD, fellowships, and PSU opportunities, while JAM focuses on core science concepts required for M.Sc. admissions.
He also discussed eligibility criteria, examination streams, and syllabus structure, helping students understand how to plan their preparation effectively. During the session, the IIT Roorkee expert highlighted the wide range of career opportunities and growth prospects available after qualifying for GATE and JAM.
He explained how successful candidates can benefit from government schemes, scholarships, and recognition while pursuing higher studies in IITs, NITs, and other prestigious institutions. A clear and practical roadmap for GATE preparation was also shared, motivating students to start early, stay consistent, and prepare with a focused approach.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion, leaving students more confident and well-informed about GATE/JAM 2025–26. The workshop successfully provided students with a clear understanding of the exams and inspired them to take the next step towards higher education and professional success.
