TMU Celebrates 11th International Yoga Day with a 4-Day Yoga Week
Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, commemorated the 11th International Yoga Day with a grand four-day Yoga Week from 18th to 21st June 2025, themed “One Earth, One Health.” The event exemplified yoga not merely as a physical practice but as a pathway to mental empowerment, social responsibility, environmental preservation, and global unity.
The event was spearheaded by the TMU College of Physical Education, with collaborative support from the NSS Unit, Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems, various academic departments, and the university administration.
Day 1: National Seminar on Yoga’s Decadal Impact on Public Health
The week commenced on 18th June with a high-level national seminar titled “Yoga Impact: A Decadal Assessment on Public Health.”
- Prof. (Dr.) Ishwar Bharadwaj of Dev Sanskriti University, Haridwar, highlighted yoga’s role in mental stability and disease prevention.
- Dr. Tungveer Singh Arya of Muzaffarnagar Medical College presented yoga as a complement to modern medicine, advocating traditional practices in contemporary health systems.
The session was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Shivanee Kaul, with coordination by Prof. Manu Mishra and Dr. Vinod Kumar Jain.
Day 2: Green Yoga – A Call for Ecological and Social Consciousness
On 19th June, TMU conducted the innovative “Green Yoga” initiative.
The day began with a mass yoga session, followed by a tree plantation drive and campus cleanliness campaign.
- Over 100 saplings were planted, symbolising a fusion of spiritual and environmental consciousness.
- Students, faculty, and volunteers united in promoting a cleaner and greener campus.
This event successfully underscored the socio-ecological relevance of yoga in contemporary times.
Day 3: International Online Conclave – Yoga in the Global Context
On 20th June, TMU hosted an International Online Conclave on “Yoga and Meditation: Ancient Solutions for Modern Problems – A Global Perspective.”
Experts from Nepal, UAE, Hong Kong, and India shared their insights on the transformative role of yoga in:
- Mental health
- Work-life balance
- Social harmony
The conclave was anchored by Prof. Manu Mishra and Dr. Alka Agrawal, and all participants received e-certificates for their contribution.
Day 4: Grand Yoga Demonstration Marks International Yoga Day
The final day, 21st June, was marked by a mass yoga demonstration at TMU’s Indoor Sports Stadium.
Under the guidance of trainers Gaurav Tyagi and Rashmi Narang, hundreds of participants practised:
- Yogasanas such as Tadasana, Trikonasana, and Ardha Chakrasana
- Pranayama techniques, including Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari, and Sheetali
Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) V. K. Jain described yoga as a bridge between the soul, mind, and society, urging everyone to integrate it into daily life.
Principal Prof. Manu Mishra reiterated the university’s commitment to promoting yoga as a holistic life philosophy, not just a physical regimen.

The TMU Yoga Week was not just an event—it emerged as a movement for internal balance, societal cooperation, and environmental consciousness. With its thoughtful programming and inclusive spirit, TMU’s celebration stands as an exemplary model for academic institutions nationwide.
