TMIF Organises Expert Talk on Innovation, Startups and Entrepreneurship
Moradabad, July 25, 2026: Teerthanker Mahaveer Innovation Foundation (TMIF) organised an expert talk on “Innovation, Startups & Entrepreneurship: Your Gateway to the Startup Ecosystem” on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the TMIF Incubation Centre, Bagadpur, Moradabad. The two-hour offline session brought together students, faculty members and incubatees to explore innovation, venture building, incubation support, startup funding and pathways to commercialisation.
The session featured Mr Alok Pandey, CEO, AIC IIT Delhi, as the expert speaker. He shared practical insights into the startup ecosystem and explained how aspiring entrepreneurs can transform early-stage ideas into commercially viable and scalable ventures.
Focus on Building a Strong Startup Ecosystem
The expert session highlighted the strategic role of business incubators in supporting entrepreneurs beyond providing conventional workspace. Mr Pandey explained how incubators can provide access to prototyping facilities, specialised laboratories, intellectual property and patent assistance, legal mentoring and funding support.
He also emphasised that structured incubation can help first-time entrepreneurs reduce execution risks while providing access to mentors, ecosystem partners and other resources required during the early stages of venture development.
Understanding the Startup and Innovation Ecosystem
A key discussion during the session focused on the interconnected nature of India's startup ecosystem. Participants gained insights into how academic incubators, government initiatives, Startup India, NITI Aayog, MSME programmes, angel investors and venture capital networks contribute to the growth of innovative ventures.
The expert also discussed government grants and seed-support opportunities that can help campus-based innovators move from ideation to implementation.
Problem-First Approach to Startup Building
One of the central takeaways of the session was the importance of identifying and validating a genuine problem before developing a product.
Mr Pandey encouraged aspiring founders to understand customer pain points thoroughly and follow a structured innovation journey, beginning with problem-solution fit, followed by the development of a Proof of Concept (PoC) and ultimately a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
The discussion further highlighted the importance of sustainable unit economics and a viable business model before approaching external investors.
Insights into Funding Readiness and Venture Growth
The session also addressed the expectations of investment committees during seed-funding evaluations. Participants learned that factors such as team commitment, adaptability, execution capability and continuous improvement based on customer feedback play an important role in determining a startup's investment readiness.
The discussion provided students, faculty members and incubatees with a clearer understanding of how innovative ideas can be strengthened before being presented to investors and funding agencies.
Interactive Q&A Session
An interactive question-and-answer session followed the expert address, allowing participants to engage directly with Mr Alok Pandey. Questions covered areas including grant applications, patent filing, incubation support, startup validation and seed capital.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks and the presentation of a token of appreciation to the guest speaker.
73 Participants Gain Startup Ecosystem Insights
The programme witnessed participation from 73 individuals, including 46 students and 27 faculty members. The interaction provided participants with practical knowledge of incubation mechanisms, government funding opportunities, venture-building frameworks and startup mentorship.
The session also contributed to strengthening the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship at TMIF by encouraging participants to explore available incubation facilities and develop their ideas into scalable ventures.
