Mission Shakti 5.0: TMU Hosts Shakti Shield Self-Protection Session
The Faculty of Education at Teerthanker Mahaveer University organised the Shakti Shield Self-Protection Session under the Mission Shakti initiative—an extensive statewide campaign committed to advancing women’s safety, dignity, and empowerment. The session encouraged students to build confidence, develop leadership abilities, and deepen their understanding of women’s rights, personal security, and available support systems. The activities nurtured awareness and proactive behaviour, aligning with Mission Shakti’s goal of fostering safe and empowered communities on campus.
Objectives
The programme was designed to:
- Empower students through leadership exposure in educational environments
- Strengthen decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
- Promote academic excellence coupled with responsible leadership
- Motivate students to contribute meaningfully to the future of education
Programme Highlights
Welcome Address
Dr Poonam Chauhan opened the session with an engaging introduction to the campaign’s vision and objectives. Emphasising courage, confidence, and collective responsibility, she reminded students that empowerment begins with awareness and inner strength—core values symbolised by Shakti.
Martial Arts Skit: Mahila Shakti
A dynamic martial arts-based theatrical skit presented by Vanshika Siddhu and her team captured the audience’s attention. Their performance showcased the resilience, agility, and power of women, combining precise movements with expressive storytelling. The act highlighted self-protection techniques and celebrated the unwavering spirit of womanhood.
Chief Guest Address
Prof. Dr Lincy Joseph, Head of the Nursing Department, delivered the keynote address. Her insightful talk explored three crucial pillars of women’s empowerment:
- Digital Shakti – Understanding online risks, identifying cyber threats, protecting personal data, and practising safe online behaviour.
- Physical Fitness – Emphasising strength-building exercises, nutrition, and self-defence to enhance personal security and self-confidence.
- Mental Fitness – Focusing on emotional resilience, stress management, and seeking timely support to ensure balanced, healthy decision-making.
Her comprehensive guidance resonated deeply with students, offering practical ways to incorporate safety and empowerment into daily life.
Vote of Thanks
Dr Vinod Kumar Jain, Principal, Faculty of Education, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, organisers, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation.
