Legal Outreach Programme By TMU’s College of Law & Legal Studies

On November 6, 2022, TMU’s College of Law & Legal Studies participated in a Mega Legal Awareness Camp at Rajendra Singh Inter College, Munda Pandey, Moradabad. The event was organised under the direction of the District Legal Service Authority, Moradabad. The aim of the programme was to make people aware of their rights and to mark the 75th anniversary of India's independence (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav).

The District Legal Services Authority, Moradabad, is running a citizen empowerment campaign to make people aware of their legal rights and familiarise them with matters related to law. While addressing the villagers, Mr. Sachin Kumar Dixit, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, said that with the help of these awareness camps, people will be aware of various legal provisions that have been made for their protection and flourishment.

Mr. Ankit Verma, Additional Civil Judge, Junior Division, said that if everybody understands the basic laws, they can lead a life of respect and dignity. Thus, it is crucial to have an understanding of basic legal laws. Later, the general public was introduced to public welfare schemes and the facilities of different government departments, including the labour department, women’s welfare department, and health department.

The law students of TMU's College of Law & Legal Studies raised awareness of crimes against women, through a street play. These outreach programmes bridge the gap between theory and practice for law students, which benefits the teaching as well as the learning process. The programme ended with a free health check-up by the health department and an eye examination by the C.L Gupta Foundation.

TMU’s College of Law and Legal Studies is approved by the Bar Council of India, and it is a unique place to pursue legal studies. The college conducts educational tours and outreach programmes for students to various places like the Parliament of India, the Supreme Court of India, and LokAdalats so that they can interact with prominent lawyers and judges. The alumni of the college are serving the country as Advocates, Judicial Magistrates, and Legal Advisors in Subordinate Courts, State High Courts, and the Supreme Court of India.
