Khelo India Samvad at TMU Inspired Students to Embrace Sports and Fitness

Teerthanker Mahaveer University celebrated National Sports Day 2026 by organising Khelo India Samvad at the campus. The programme connected students and other participants with Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a live virtual interaction. The event focused on sports, fitness, youth leadership, nation-building, and the vision of a developed India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Addressed Young Participants

The programme began with the welcome of guests, lamp lighting, and Saraswati Vandana. A virtual welcome was then presented by My Bharat volunteers. After the screening of a short film based on National Sports Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the participants through a live broadcast from the Prime Minister’s Office.

During his 23-minute address, the Prime Minister remembered Major Dhyan Chand and highlighted the importance of sports in building a strong and confident India. He said that India was committed to developing a modern sports ecosystem.

He also highlighted India’s dream of hosting the 2036 Olympics. He said that India needed to increase its participation in different sports and develop expertise in disciplines where other countries had achieved success.

Students Were Encouraged to Make Sports a Part of Life

The Khelo India Samvad at TMU encouraged students to look at sports beyond winning medals. The Prime Minister said that sports should contribute to the overall development of a person and should help young people become physically fit, mentally strong, and confident.

His message created enthusiasm among the students at TMU. The interaction also encouraged young participants to connect sports with leadership, discipline, fitness, and nation-building.

Local Youth Dialogue Was Also Organised

After the Prime Minister’s virtual interaction, a local discussion was organised with students, youth representatives, and people associated with sports.

MLC Dr Jaypal Singh Vyas guided the students and spoke about the importance of sports in developing physical fitness, mental strength, and emotional stability. He referred to successful sportspersons such as Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Piyush Chawla, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had achieved recognition despite coming from smaller cities.

District Youth Officer Sachin Kumar also interacted with the students. Sports experts shared their experiences and views with the young participants.

Youth Leadership and Nation-Building Were Discussed

Open interaction sessions were also held under Youth Samvad, Viksit Bharat, Youth Leaders Dialogue, and Idea Submission initiatives. Before the conclusion of the programme, students took a pledge against drug abuse.

The programme ended with the distribution of mementoes, a vote of thanks, and the National Anthem. Director Student Welfare Prof. M.P. Singh, Prof. Madhu Mishra, Dr Ravi Prakash Singh, and Mr Deepak Malik played important roles in coordinating the programme. My Bharat volunteer Himanshi Sharma conducted the event.
