On 4, November 2022, Teerthanker Mahaveer University’s TMIMT College of Management organised an Industrial Visit to Amar Ujala Publication for MBA (1st Semester) students. The visit aimed to provide students with insights regarding internal working and the printing process of newspapers. The group consisted of 38 students, and two faculty members from TMIMT College of Management.

Amar Ujala is a Hindi-language daily newspaper published in India since 1948. The newspaper has been granted various awards and recognition. It has 22 editions covering 179 districts in six states and two union territories. It has a circulation of around two million copies. According to the 2017 Indian Readership Survey, it has the fourth-largest daily readership among Indian newspapers, with 4.70 crore readers.

At the visit, students were provided with an opportunity to witness the technology involved in the printing of daily newspapers at the printing press. The students were amazed to see the technologically advanced equipment that was being used in the press. Students were informed that this newspaper covers matters related to political issues, sports, careers, lifestyle, women, entertainment, etc.

Amar Ujala had also organised a session for the students where they were briefed about the Press. The students were told that the shelf life of a newspaper is only 30 to 40 minutes and the delivery has to be very efficient. Amar Ujala also spreads news online, about the local, national and global world. In the session, students energetically popped up intelligent questions which were accentuated and meticulously addressed.

The visit to the Amar Ujala printing press was very informative for all. Students were thrilled to know the process of printing & publishing a newspaper and understand how newspapers reach subscribers’ homes on time. The industrial visit to Amar Ujala was a wonderful learning experience for TMU students. At last, the students thanked their guide for his talk and all the staff of Amar Ujala Publication Ltd.
