Grand Finale of Thoughtful Leadership Arena Held at TMU
Teerthanker Mahaveer University successfully concluded the grand finale of the Thoughtful Leadership Arena Debate Championship on 26 August at Medical LT 4. The event was organised by the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Development (CTLD) under the theme “Be Heard, Be Respected, Be a Leader.” The competition saw enthusiastic participation from 355 students from different departments and colleges of the university.
Distinguished Guests at the Grand Finale
The grand finale was attended by several distinguished guests. Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Kumar Singh, Director, CTLD, addressed the students during the event. Prof. (Dr.) Harbansh Dixit, Dean, Law & Legal Studies, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour.
Ms Pratibha, who had more than 20 years of experience in the advertising and communications sector, attended the event as the Chief Guest. She had been associated with Cannes Lions and was the Founder of Alpha 18. She also judged the final competition.
Students Showed Strong Debating Skills
The competition provided students with a platform to present their views with confidence and clarity. Out of 355 participants, 16 students reached the quarter-finals, followed by 8 students in the semi-finals. Finally, 4 students competed in the grand finale.
The competition was conducted in three rounds named “The Spark”, “The Clash”, and “The Arena.” Each round tested the students’ knowledge, confidence, debating skills, presentation ability and understanding of the given topics.
Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Kumar Singh highlighted the importance of situational leadership. He encouraged students to observe their surroundings and learn from people and experiences that could offer valuable lessons.
Prof. (Dr.) Harbansh Dixit also motivated the students to take their goals seriously. He highlighted the importance of discipline, consistent effort and a serious approach towards life and success.
Ms. Pratibha encouraged the students to trust themselves and express their thoughts with confidence and clarity. She highlighted these qualities as important characteristics of a true leader.
Winners of the Debate Championship
The winners were announced after the completion of all three rounds. Vanshika Saxena from CCSIT won the competition, while Juhi Pandey from TMIMT was declared the First Runner-up. Harika from the College of Agriculture secured the Second Runner-up position, and Sareesh Khan from Allied & Healthcare Sciences became the Third Runner-up.
Aradhya Chaudhary from the College of Agriculture received the Best Speaker award, while Samriddhi Sharma from Law & Legal Studies won the Best Rebuttal award.
Conclusion
The Thoughtful Leadership Arena allowed students to improve their communication, debating and leadership skills. The event also helped students build confidence and present their ideas logically and persuasively.
The successful programme reflected TMU’s efforts towards the holistic development of students. The event was coordinated by Dr Jasmine Stephen, Chief Trainer, with Ms Rachna Saxena, Soft Skills Trainer, serving as the Co-Coordinator. The dedicated efforts of the CTLD team contributed significantly to the success of the event.
