Got Strength To Hear Without Pain: Aniket

  • TMU Hospital’s doctor performed a successful rare surgery on a 10-year-old labourers boy, Aniket.

  • Aniket was suffering from a rare ear disease.

Moradabad, 25th January, 2022.It's a dream come true for me and my family as they were also suffering in my pain for a long time. After my surgery, my doctor uncle told me that my rare ear disease will no longer be a part of my life.

Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre (TMMC&RC)’s ENT Department HOD Dr. P. Chatterjee and his team successfully performed a rare ear surgery on a 10-year-old boy Aniket, whose father is a labourer from Ratanpur Kalan Village in Moradabad. The child was diagnosed with a disease called sigmoid sinus thrombosis. Usually, this disease occurs only in very few people. If it is not treated in time, it can be fatal, says Dr. Chatterjee. Therefore, the doctors performed an operation that lasted for four hours.

Although I have been at TMU for seven years, this is the first operation in my career of over twenty years, says Dr. Chatterjee. Dr. Chatterjee has performed over 1000 operations till date. Aniket’s father Bablu Singh said Aniket was complaining of ear discharge and pain for the last two years. He took treatment from many doctors, but there was no relief. The family members came to TMU Hospital and, upon examining the patient, the infection in the patient's ear had increased. So, Dr. Chatterjee advised immediate operation. After the family’s consent, the team performed an operation. Subsequently, the infected ear bone was taken out and the clots and infection accumulated in the brain were also cleaned. The operation was successful.

Now the patient’s condition is normal. He will be discharged from the hospital soon. In Chatterjee’s team, Dr. Akshay Jain, Dr. Aditya, Dr. Riya, Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Anil etc. were involved.

One more feather of successful surgery has been added in the history of Teerthanker Mahaveer Hospital, Moradabad, says Shri Suresh Jain, Chancellor, TMU.
