CTLD, TMU Organises Expert Session on Corporate Readiness under “Career Talks – Pathways to Success” Series
Moradabad | 31 January 2026
The Centre for Teaching, Learning and Development (CTLD) at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, has launched a structured university-level career guidance initiative titled “Career Talks – Pathways to Success.” The objective of this initiative is to make students career-aware, industry-ready, and employment-oriented by aligning academic preparation with real corporate expectations.
The first expert session under this series was organised on 31 January 2026 at CCSIT, Lecture Theatre–2, focusing on the theme “Corporate Readiness” under the title “How HR Actually Hires: The Secret Selection Tips.” Students from multiple faculties participated enthusiastically, reflecting the growing interest in understanding industry recruitment practices.
Focus on Industry Expectations Beyond Technical Knowledge
The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Dwivedi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, who addressed the gathering and emphasised that technical expertise alone is no longer sufficient in today’s competitive corporate environment. He highlighted the importance of communication skills, professional attitude, workplace adaptability, and adherence to ethical values as essential components of corporate success.
He appreciated CTLD’s initiative, stating that such interactive platforms enable students to gain clarity on real-world career requirements and prepare themselves holistically.
Bridging the Gap Between Classroom Learning and Corporate Reality
Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Kumar Singh, Director, CTLD, shared that the “Career Talks” series has been conceptualised to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical industry expectations. He noted that when students understand the actual recruitment process and employer mindset, they can prepare strategically and enhance their employability.
He reaffirmed CTLD’s commitment to organising more industry-interaction sessions that expose students to real-time corporate insights and evolving hiring trends.
Expert Insights on Corporate Hiring Practices
The keynote speaker, Ms Deepti Verma, Talent Acquisition Leader, AVPN, brought over two decades of experience in human resources and talent acquisition to the session. She provided a comprehensive overview of corporate hiring realities, clarifying that recruitment decisions are not based solely on academic marks or degrees.
According to her, recruiters evaluate candidates on behavioural competencies, analytical thinking, communication style, cultural alignment, and problem-solving abilities. She offered practical guidance on:
- Avoiding common interview mistakes
- Crafting an impactful and structured résumé
- Demonstrating confidence during interviews
- Aligning personal strengths with organisational expectations
Her session provided students with a realistic understanding of how HR professionals assess candidates during the selection process.
Interactive Q&A and Student Engagement
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer round, where students raised queries related to interview preparation, long-term career planning, and professional growth strategies. Ms Deepti Verma addressed each query with clarity and practical examples, encouraging continuous learning, self-assessment, and skill enhancement.
