CTLD Organises Five-Day Online FDP on “Holistic Horizons” At TMU
The Centre for Teaching, Learning and Development (CTLD) at TMU successfully organised a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Holistic Horizons: A Multidisciplinary Perspective for Personal and Professional Growth” from 25th November to 29th November 2025 in online mode. The Faculty Development Programme brought together more than 70 educators from across the nation, creating a dynamic platform for collaborative learning and professional advancement.
The programme was designed to address the evolving demands of higher education by integrating wellness, emotional intelligence, leadership, innovative pedagogy, and creative expression into a comprehensive framework. The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to academic excellence and the continuous professional development of educators.
Day 1: Wellness & Ergonomics for Educators
The inaugural session was led by Dr Neelam Chauhan, who emphasised the importance of physical and cognitive well-being for educators. She introduced participants to the science of ergonomics and explained how proper workplace design directly impacts productivity and long-term health. Key topics included maintaining neutral posture, correct seating and monitor positioning, taking movement breaks every 30 minutes, and conducting workstation audits. The session provided practical insights to help faculty prevent occupational health issues and improve efficiency in both online and offline teaching environments.
Day 2: Emotional Intelligence & Stress Management
On the second day, Dr Jasmine Stephen conducted an engaging session on emotional intelligence and stress management. She elaborated on the five pillars of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and discussed the EI Stress Loop in professional contexts. Faculty members were introduced to actionable techniques such as reframing, mindful pausing, and the 60-second EI Reset Programme. Real-life classroom stress scenarios were analysed, enabling participants to develop resilience and improve interpersonal relationships within academic settings.
Day 3: Leadership & Effective Communication in Academia
The third day featured Prof. (Dr) Pankaj Kumar Singh, Director of CTLD, who explored leadership as a practice grounded in influence, responsibility, and purpose. He highlighted the “Four C’s” of effective communication—Clarity, Confidence, Content, and Connection. The session also covered mentorship strategies, understanding student psychology, phases of personality development, and the role of non-verbal communication in impactful teaching. Participants gained valuable perspectives on becoming transformative leaders in higher education.
Day 4: Innovative Pedagogies Bridging Theory and Practice
On Day 4, Dr Ashish Singhai focused on modern teaching methodologies aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and Industry 4.0 requirements. He discussed constructivist learning, experiential learning cycles, inquiry-based learning, blended learning models, and the integration of AI tools in education. The session also emphasised authentic assessment methods and classroom engagement strategies to ensure effective knowledge transfer and skill development.
Day 5: Creativity & Expression in Teaching
The final session was conducted by Ms Gauri Takiyar, who highlighted the significance of creativity in contemporary pedagogy. She introduced the three pillars of creative teaching and underscored the importance of expressive communication. Faculty members were encouraged to incorporate storytelling, real-life examples, and digital platforms to enhance student engagement and make learning more meaningful.
