CTLD Organised Hospital Staff Training Programme on Communication & Patient Care Excellence at TMU Hospital
The Centre for Teaching, Learning and Development (CTLD), Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), successfully organised a Hospital Staff Training Programme from 6th to 20th March 2026 for the staff of TMU Hospital. The programme aimed to improve communication skills, patient care, teamwork, and professional behaviour among hospital employees. The initiative supported TMU Hospital's commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services and maintaining NABH standards.
The programme was attended by staff members from the Nursing Department, Administrative Department, Front Office, Hospital Services, and Support Services. The sessions included interactive discussions, role plays, practical demonstrations, and real-life case studies to help participants improve their day-to-day communication and patient interaction skills.
Telephone Communication and Workplace Etiquette
The training programme began with an informative session by Mr Jatin Dua on telephone communication and workplace etiquette. He explained the importance of answering calls professionally, speaking politely, and handling patient enquiries with confidence. Participants learned how proper telephone communication creates a positive first impression and helps build trust with patients and their families.
Patient Communication and Complaint Handling
Another important part of the programme focused on effective patient communication and complaint handling. The sessions were conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Kumar Singh and Dr Jasmine Stephen. They discussed the importance of listening carefully to patients, understanding their concerns, and resolving complaints with patience and professionalism.
The trainers also explained bedside manners, conflict management, and ways to communicate with empathy during difficult situations. Participants actively took part in discussions and practical activities that helped them understand patient-centred care.
Compassionate Care and Teamwork
The concluding sessions were conducted by Ms Mani Saraswat and Dr Dilip Dutt Varshney. They highlighted the importance of compassionate care, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and effective communication in a healthcare environment.
Through group activities and practical exercises, participants learned how strong interpersonal skills and better coordination among departments can improve the overall patient experience and workplace efficiency.
Conclusion
The Hospital Staff Training Programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from all attendees. The training helped hospital staff strengthen their communication skills, improve patient engagement, handle grievances more effectively, and develop a more compassionate approach towards patient care.
By organising such professional development programmes, CTLD continued to support the growth of healthcare professionals and reinforced TMU Hospital's commitment to delivering quality, patient-centred healthcare services while maintaining high professional standards.
