Concept of General Pharmacology (Animated/ Comical Strip) under the aegis of ISRPT

Concept of General Pharmacology (Animated/ Comical Strip) under the aegis of Indian Society for Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPT) was held on July 30, 2022. The students of the Batch 2020 (CBME Batch) were given an assignment to make up either an animated/ comical strip for better understanding of the topic after the completion of General Pharmacology Topic. This exercise was a part of Self Directed Learning (SDL) recently introduced in the new curriculum of NMC. All the students completed the activity in the stipulated time, which was further judged by faculty of Department of Pharmacology, TMMC&RC. Based on the simplicity of explaining a topic, a total of 30 students were short-listed for the Final Round which was held on July 30, 2022.

The event was held on the online mode via Zoom Online Platform and was Judged by Faculty of immense repute in stream of Pharmacology. The Judges for this online event were Prof (Dr.) Sunita Singh, Prof & Head, Dept. of Pharmacology, NDMC Medical College & Hindu Rao Hospital, New Delhi; Prof (Dr.) Suman Bala, SRHU, Dehradun; Prof (Dr.) Pooja Reddy, Prof & Head, Sri Aurobindo University, Indore; Prof (Dr.) Rangeel Singh Raina, Prof & Head, Department of Pharmacology, SSJ Government Medical College, Almora; Prof (Dr.) Nitin Kothari, Government Medical College, Dungarpur; Dr. Ratna Palit, Associate Professor, Hitech Medical College & Hospital Bhubaneswarand Dr. Kirti VIshwakarma, Associate Professor, Autonomous Government Medical College, Firozabad.

All the students presented their concept in form of animation/ comical strip on the online platform in 2-3 minutes and were judged on three criteria’s for their presentation – Concept, Content and Understanding of the Topic. The entire batch was also attending the online event. Based on the results of students which was taken average from all judges all students were given certificate of participation. The students who received the consolation prize were – Asmit, and HemlataVishwakara. The second runner-up for the event were Pratyush Kumar Singh, Kavya Gupta, Dev Khari, while First Runner-up was Kesar Khanna, the event was won by Chahak Agarwal.

The concept of having a animated/comical strip not only helps the student in incorporating technology into medical field it also enhances their memory and understanding of the topic. All the Judges were quite happy with the performance of the students and liked this innovative teaching-learning method and gave full credit to students for their enthusiastic presentation and participation. The conclusion of the event was done by Prof.(Dr.) Prithpal Singh Matreja, Prof & Head, Dept. of Pharmacology, TMMC&RC by thanking all the judges for sparing their valuable time for this event.
