Alumni Workshop on Advanced Clinical Physiotherapy Practices Held at TMU
The Department of Physiotherapy at TMU successfully organised an Alumni Workshop on Advanced Clinical Physiotherapy Practices on December 8, 2025. The workshop was planned to strengthen alumni–institution interaction and to help students improve their clinical knowledge and professional skills through expert guidance.
The workshop provided a valuable platform where students could learn directly from experienced alumni who are actively working in the clinical field. The sessions focused on real-life patient management and evidence-based physiotherapy practices, making the learning experience highly effective and relevant.
Expert Sessions by TMU Alumni
The first session was delivered by Dr Makhdoom Hasan, who presented an in-depth talk on Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS). He explained the causes and risk factors of the condition in simple terms and discussed the role of biomechanics in injury development. The session covered detailed methods of clinical assessment, posture analysis, and movement evaluation. Dr Hasan also discussed advanced physiotherapy treatment strategies based on evidence-based practice. His session helped students gain clarity on the diagnosis and effective management of ITBS in clinical settings.
The second session was delivered by Dr Aeman Khan, focusing on pelvic floor dysfunction in postpartum women. She explained common problems faced by women after childbirth and the importance of early physiotherapy intervention. She discussed assessment tools, exercise planning, and patient-specific treatment approaches. Her session emphasised the importance of sensitive and individualised care for patients.
Interactive and Practical Learning Experience
Both sessions were highly interactive and case-based. The speakers shared real clinical cases and practical examples, which helped students understand patient management better. Students actively participated by asking questions and discussing treatment approaches. Students gained confidence and motivation by learning directly from alumni who are successfully working in the field of physiotherapy.
Alumni shared their career journeys and encouraged students to focus on continuous learning and skill development. Overall, the workshop was highly informative and beneficial. It reflected TMU’s commitment to quality education, clinical exposure, and strong alumni engagement, helping students prepare better for their future professional careers.
