3.3.4 Sexual and Reproductive Health Care Services for Students

Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) upholds SDG-3: Good Health and Well-Being by providing comprehensive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services that prioritise student safety, awareness, and access to quality care. TMU Hospital, Nursing College, and the Department of Community Medicine collaboratively offer confidential SRH consultations, gynaecological services, menstrual health counselling, and reproductive health education tailored specifically for adolescents and young adults.

The University conducts regular awareness programmes on menstrual hygiene, contraception, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HPV vaccination, consent, and healthy relationships. These sessions are delivered through expert talks, interactive workshops, peer-education models, and outreach activities both on campus and in hostels. Special emphasis is placed on empowering female students with knowledge about reproductive rights, self-care practices, and early identification of health concerns.

TMU’s Institutional Health Centre ensures accessible and student-friendly SRH services, including routine check-ups, diagnostic support, antenatal and postnatal guidance for married students, and counselling for reproductive health concerns. The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and student support units further strengthen a safe and respectful campus culture by addressing gender-based issues and promoting gender sensitivity.

Through accessible services, continuous education, and a strong support network, TMU ensures that students make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health, reinforcing its commitment to SDG 3.3.4 and fostering a healthier, more responsible campus community.
